What games could work in first person?

The other day I was rooting through my older games and came across Mirrors edge, I decided I would try it out again as I had fond memories, I got about half way through the game then began to wonder what other games could work in first person, they made a 1st person parkour game.

I for one would be interested to see a proper first person fighting game, everything visible and taking hits actually affecting sight or movement in a realistic way.

I then thought a bit more and remembered things like Skyrim, and Far Cry 3, and I love the idea of first person adventure, and it would be great if they expanded it, I can imagine things like first-person spider-man, webswinging and the like, I then thought of Dishonored, and it's supernatural elements and I had to wonder if things like that could be more widely applied.
Things like Infamous, or Prototype, in first person, proper virtual reality deal.

I even considered what it would be like to have a first person Saints Row or GTA, or star wars, the possibilities of first person could be endless, I really like the idea, as much as I love third person there are so many interesting ideas that could be.

Does anyone else think this? What games could really work in first person?

I have an issue with fast paced first person games like Mirror's Edge. They give me motion sickness which can only be reduced by consuming large quantities of ginger biscuits. Yet Skyrim, Oblivion and Fallout are fine for me in first person. I personally think it's to do with how the player moves and also the backgrounds at the same time. Perhaps certain textures and colours trigger it? I know that large amounts of bobbing such as in Farcry 3 have a significant effect on how nauseous I get. So I'd rather that first person games were kept to a minimum. besides we have enough fps games as it is without also giving other genres the same perspective.

Obviously we don't need to turn everything first person, I'm not even proposing that, just wondering what they could be like.

I'd like to see games like Super Smash Bros, Pokemon, some Mario Games, and possibly Final Fantasy have a first person feel to it.

Final Fantasy is a good one.

I'd love to see things involving a lot of movement, for example something like a first person Sonic game......No I admit that would probably even make me feel sick.

Would be interesting to have a proper first person Dragonball (Not terribly controlled by kinect) or Naruto game, they could be interesting.

The idea of FP for other games would be cool but, the mechanics wouldn't work as well. Could you imagine Gears being FP? Then you couldn't wall bounce, 2 piece, or Superman people as easily. Same with fighters. Combos would be extremely hard to pull off if you couldn't see yourself doing them. Some game genres are best left at over the shoulder view points.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I think virtual reality for that would be better, even third person.

Fighting games would be so much more epic and a challenge if it wasn't merely pressing buttons, all the basement dwellers that never go outside and only play games would be rendered useless :D

Not even virtual reality but say you got a visor thing to wear.
My main problem with FP(mostly FPS) games is the severe lack of peripheral vision.
If someone is outside the square you see you just can't see them in a game.
But in real life you could cstch a glimpse of them and potentially not be killed.

Same with Skyrim can be walking along then get suddenly mauled by a sabretooth cat you never seen lurking about.

GTA and horror games would be interesting with full FP vision.
Or side scrolling games like Littlebig planet or arcade shooters, that would be great fun.

Fifa could work I think.

Like 777 said with first person games the lack of peripheral vision is a problem, which is why it's not too practical for games that involve a lot of looking in multiple directions.

I can't see platforming games working too well, since you'd have to be looking around in multiple directions a lot, and well Sonic's spinning would just be ridiculous. Pokemon would definitely be a cool one, but only from the trainer's perspective not as a pokemon involved in battles.

Actually yeah how does Sonic ever even know where he's going...

FP Space Invaders lol

I think it would have to be crossed with either VR or really good movement controls.
FP fighting games without that qould basically just be quick time event games

A whole game of that would just be annoying really

But then if it was movement controls for fighting games you'd have to be pretty damn fit lol

I think better than all would be games that employ the dream technology of Inception.
That would be awesome.
Could play for hours and hours but only have a few minutes pass in the real world :D
