So apparently Doc Ock is taking over the Spider-Man role after Peter Parker dies. I don't read comics, but I think this is pretty hackneyed. They're taking a huge risk shaking things up this much. Granted, I think the concept is actually pretty interesting, but I don't know about the execution or the long-term effects. That'd be like replacing Bruce Wayne with someone else as the actual Batman alter ego; to me, it just wouldn't work at all (yeah, you had Terry as Batman Beyond, but that wasn't actually Batman himself).

I dunno much about the comics aside from the movies and the random times I look up info on wikis lol.

Well to be fair, Doc Ock was a good guy before the experiment so ideally I do agree that he could be future an adult mature Peter Parker. But isn't the guy like, a generation older than him at least? I guess Peter's memories and such would replace his own (I dunno if it happened in the comics but I think his wife died in the movie) so I guess it could work out, I am pretty sure with his intellect (and understanding of relationships as he had a wife), he'd surely be a better Spideman.

But Spiderman not being Peter Parker is well weird =/, I would have liked it better if it was a relative (maybe his kid) or some other person he relates to (like Scarlet Spider, but I think he died lol). But yeah it seems no one is like 'meh' about it, they're every saying is awesome or sending death mail, lol

I just thave an image of Doc Ock flying through the air, shooting webs out of his mechanicals arms wearing his huge goggles telling criminals to "Stop in the name of science!" I'll admit he'd probably be a good criminal stopper because if I saw that flying through the air waving its death arms around I'd probably sh*t myself and run straight for prison just for protection.

But yeah really...what the heck?

In the comic book world super heroes tend to not stay dead, so don't think o fthis as permanent, they will find some way or another to bring back Peter Parker.

Also they already had a different Spider-Man in the ultimate comics so this is not the first time, they annoy fans by killing Peter Parker

Unfortunately for me this is the second time that I get spoiled on Parker's death really have to start reading it someday.

I'm a little confused at the choice, does Dock Oc still have the mechanical arms? That would be interesting if he does and is going around as Spider-Man. I'm wondering why they didn't come up with someone new, or someone else even from another marvel comic. Just as they once had different people in the fantastic four from other comics, I'm sure they could find another hero elsewhere to take on the role

Apparently Doc Oc switched minds with Peter Parker during a fight and that's how he came into his body/Spiderman's identity. Peter Parker's entire life or the important memories will be what causes Doc Oc to kind of live up to the image of Spiderman...while this is pretty sucky in my eyes, like otehrs I haven't read the comic lately nor kept up with anything to be invested or disturbed. It's a strange idea but eh. I'm sure they'll kill him again and have the original back later.
