Welcome to the Steam Christmas Sale Thread. We let Gabenzilla destroy our beloved wallets for a few years now and no other monster seemed to be able to compete with his power.

Steam Christmas Sale 2012, December 20th, 2012 through January 2nd, 2013
The craziest PC-gaming sale of the year starts TODAY. So grab your wallets and empty them - money is overrated anyway:
Daily Deals - The standard way of Steam to offer amazing deals during these sales. You have 24 hours to get a game, then another 24 hours after the deals change to compare the current deals and the deals still live from one day ago. Makes it much easier to make up your mind where to spend your hard earned cash.
Flash Sales - The new way of getting your money - each game only gets a couple of hours of being on sale, and it might or might not show up multiple times during the entire sale.
Deals swap over at 10am Pacific Time. Also more often than not, you should see an "Offer ends in" timer to give you an idea how much longer for you can get the game at a certain sale price. For the sale, they're giving is two day (48 hour) timers.
We're living in a new world - always check Amazon, GMG, Gamersgate for Steam games in your cart. Those shops often have a lower price point in competition with Steam.

Rules to Steam Sale
If the game you want isn't a daily/flash deal - wait for it to become one or buy it on the last day.
Put the amount of money you can afford AND NO MORE* into your steam wallet, before the sales starts. You don't want your card being knocked back when you try and buy that Nancy Drew game you've been waiting for with 5 minutes on the sale clock.
If the game is on a daily deal, chances are it won't get and cheaper. So snap that up.
Look to organize 2 or 4 packs where possible. It can often save you and your fellow A4ers a good sum of cash.
ALWAYS check http://www.steamprices.com for the best deal. You can often save yourself a good wad of cash by using one of a many helpful regional gifters! Also, don't be afraid to ask for help getting the best deal. And tip your gifter if you can afford it!
There are usually tons of games discounted 75%+ that aren't mentioned on the main page. Go hunting.
Are you allergic to Steam deals? Why not use GMG instead? GMG30-DPLIM-DN831 will get you 30% off until January 1st.
Use Cheap Shark to find good deals and Steam Prices to find out where it's cheapest!
Looking for a really bad game to gift to your enemies? Check Palpek's bad-game-write-ups™ series: Cricket: Revolution, Legendary, Revelations 2012, Secret of the Magic Crystals, Gotesque: Tactics, Flatout 3, Numen, Adam's Venture, Orion: Dino Beatdown, Bad Rats
This might be a stupid question, but how do you get to the regular store screen? I can't even see my wish list link on the top right anymore.
You can't. But you can find your wishlist here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/my/wishlist
