Are there any anime adaptations you liked better than the original manga?

Of course, the original work is typically much better, but for me Card Captor Sakura was one exception to the rule, the original manga is enjoyable but the anime was way superior. The manga got to have more depth and show more development for some of the characters, it was longer and both funnier and more emotional. This of course has a lot to do with the heavy involvement the creators (team CLAMP) had on the creation of the anime.

A few other anime adaptations that I can't say are exactly superior but I would say they are very up to par with the original manga
-DBZ
-Saint Seiya
-Hunter X Hunter
(Obviously, they are all action/battle filled ones, because action is much more fun in TV than comic style)

Hunter X Hunter manga ~ New anime adaptation >>>>>>>> Old anime adaptation.

As for your question, Bleach was better in anime format for the SS arc. Kubo gets lazy with backgrounds and the anime team did a good job of making sure there was actually scenery during the arc lol.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood I find to be superior to the manga itself.

Death Note's anime adaptation was superb, one of my favourites.

I much preferred HunterxHunter's anime to it's manga. I want to read the Hajime no Ippo manga at some point so I can compare that to the anime.

It's been going for over 20 years and currently has at least 1000 chapters to it, so good luck with that :p

Death Note's Anime was brilliant, except the ending that sucked hard, the manga portrayed it far far better.

Agree with Brotherhood, the brilliant animation quality, lack of filler, great music and faithfulness to the manga's great story makes it > the manga in my eyes.

I definitely enjoyed Bleach's animation, although mostly because, when animated, the attacks don't look so much like ink spills to me.

I can agree with FMA:B as well, and the same goes for Death Note, prolly some of my favorite animation actually.

I'm a pathetic knave so I haven't seen as much of Hunter X Hunter as I should have. Maybe if I get some motivation, like Cal or Copy threatening to crucify me, I could get back to it. In any case, I guess the anime version looks better as well.

Also, DB/Z. The manga, especially at the earlier points, didn't look outstanding at all, but the anime looked pretty good all the way through IMO.

Saint Seiya...haven't read the manga for that.

Are you guys high?! The manga is WAY better! The manga has those little funny comics at the very end, and the "In Memorial" pages have to be my favorite part. Tucker was the only one sent to hell, lol. And The manga showed ALL of Bauqse Gran, my favorite FMA character. The 2003 anime screwed him over big time, and while Brotherhood was more faithful, they DID change things that DID NOT need to be changed, the horrible CGI for Evny's true form was awful to look at, the intro songs all sucked, the music was better in the 2003 series, if only for that beautiful 30 second piece, and no Dameon Clarke as Scar? No *****ing thank you! And I like Hoenhiem voiced by Scott McNiel better. And LACK OF filler in Brotherhood? Better watch the first episode again, cause NONE of that ***** happed in the manga, and the fight with Father Cornello was all *****ed up to make it more "action packed." The brothers confrontation with that wimpy guy with the mustache in that mining town was left out, and I could go on. The anime is NOT as faithful as most people think it is, and if you want THE BEST version of FMA, read the manga.

And as for my own post...Hellsing.

The Hellsing Tv series, while shorter, and less violent than the manga, had its own charm to it, and the story was a bit more....original...and realistic. I mean, Nazi vampires and cat boys who can exist anywhere? C'mon! And the fact that Anderson doesn't die is a plus. And sweet christ, the music is awesome! And the anime is serious. The moments in the manga that are "funny" are really out of place.

Sure Anderson lives in the original series

Not much when compared to the Manga/Ultimate Anderson who died as the single most bona fide badass preacher to walk the earth. Went up and took an entire army literally single handedly, went full on Helena's Nail on Alucard's a**, pushed the Vampire King to his limits, is voiced by Norio Wakamoto and has what may be the most profound and emotional death in the entire series and earning the respect of the No Life King himself.

Plus he's voiced by Norio Wakamoto.

Do the Ultimate OVAs count for Hellsing? Because those were bar none the best Hellsing things I've laid my eyes on.

Why do you have to constantly get angry when someone disagrees with you? It's not a good way to start a conversation with someone.

Yeah, I love the manga don't get me wrong, I've been collecting the volumes, but I just really like the Anime adaption. I didn't say there wasn't any filler at all, but there's only one actual filler episode in a 60 odd episode series. There were a few changes yes and a few things got left out near the beginning, but generally there's not much filler in there at all and it is pretty accurate.

Couldn't disagree more with the intros, I loved all of them. The first intro is my favourite Anime intro ever. And I liked the music and the voices as well, so yeah.

How could I forget Yu-Gi-Oh!? I like the manga, but the anime is just fantastic entertainment, even if it gets repetitive and annoying at points. Kaiba's also better and more developed in the anime, I think.

I'll say Fairy Tail. The anime really is top-notch. They deliver all the humour from the manga well, the artstyle is good, the voice actors are great and it's fantastically drawn. My only gripe would be the lack of blood, but it's a small grievance with an otherwise great adaptation.

I think the reason FT is such a great animated adaptation is because the manga is done very well in the first place like One Piece. Always have nicely drawn characters, backgrounds, etc. It's one of the few series' where the anime can almost truly be called canon because everything they put into it is really from the manga, whereas other series' the anime tam would have to place things in to make it seem more complete.
