I know this happened in GT, but lets just throw that to the wind right now because was completely haxed on that show. Anyone else wish Gohan/Goten would have taken their father on? Sometimes I wish they didn't have as much respect for him as they had. I would have enjoyed them challenging in a fight. Like literally, Gohan continued his training after Cell Games to eventually take his father on. Coming from the Supreme Kai topic, I wish Gohan would have knocked his father out for threatening the Supreme Kai like that. Either way, I would love to see the son family go at it. Gohan: DAMN YOU DAD! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE HERO IN DBZ. STOP TAKING ALL MY SPOTLIGHT. I AM TIRED OF BEING YOUR SHADOW.    Edited by Pookie, Oct 25 2012, 12:50 PM.

It would have ruined Gohan's character, plus Goku is almost always right when it came down to huge things. |

How would have it ruined his character? Personally, I would have enjoyed Gohan stepping up into the main character role and challenging his father. Is Goku always right? Was he right giving Cell a senzu bean when Gohan was about to fight? Stupid decisions like that cost people their lives even his own. It's exactly why there could be a turn around for Gohan. Maybe he is tired of going by Goku's orders or rash decisions. I know in future trunks timeline he respected his father plenty, but the whole father vs. son thing would have been a great twist to the DBZ story. A great way to push Gohan as the main character like he should have been. |

Goku giving Cell the senzu bean would have been wrong if Goku wanted to keep fighting, once Gohan went SSJ2 Cell's actions became his problem. Android 16 was the only one that died on Goku's watch. Trunks and Goku both died because of Gohan plus the rest of the world and the z warriors would have died if Goku didn't pump Gohan back into a fighting spirit. Gohan is a character that has all the tools to be the main character but he doesn't have the push. And it would have ruined the character because we know Gohan as this peace loving, respectable little boy who grows up wanting to make both his patients happy and he succeeds in doing so. Him wanting to challenge Goku makes him almost like Scar from Lion King, unless Goku or Gohan become controlled by someone evil. |

I wouldn't like that, it'd be way to out of character for Gohan. Even if he didn't respect Goku, he's way too nice to do something like that. |

He doesn't have the push because he was never given a push for the sake of the fans. I've seen plenty of people ask why Gohan wasn't like he was in the Future Trunks timeline. He does have it in him to challenge his father. Also, you are putting the blame on Gohan who was 12 years old at the time when he faced Cell. Piccolo acted more caring towards Gohan's situation than Goku. It wasn't until Goku saw the destruction that he realized he almost made a mistake. In a way, that could have been a turning point for Gohan. You also forgot that it was Vegeta who was the reason why Goku was forced to push Gohan into the fighting spirit. Gohan injured his arm trying to save Vegeta. He wasn't a seasoned veteran yet. Even Goku, at age of 12, hadn't begun his full journey to adult hood yet. I am not saying Gohan fully turning on his father. I am saying he challenges his authority or does things his way. Even possibly having a scuffle with his father. Similar to Robin and Batman. No matter how much teenagers respect their parents, most end up arguing with them from time to time. Since this is dbz, I could see that happening with more physical contact like with Vegeta/Trunks. Gohan's was far more mature and intelligent then most people his age, yes SSJ2 had a lot to do with his emotions and judgement but Gohan chose to let his emotions cloud his judgement. Gohan wasn't like his Future counterpart because Goku fixed the future so his son wouldn't have to be like that. Gohan was a seasoned Vet in the Cell saga, Cell saga Gohan had the best fighting mind of any Gohan seen in the series. Gohan trying to challange Goku's authority would be dumb on Gohan's part because Goku is usually right. Goku says Gohan needs to get angry to beat Cell, Gohan got angry and beat Cell, Goku says Goten and Trunks can beat Buu fused, Gotenks would have beat Buu had he gone all out from the start. |

Well Gohan would destroy Goku if he was mystic unless it was EOZ Goku. But Gohan would be very disrespectful and arrogant if he tried to disobey his authority. He has a great amount of respect for his old man even when he surpasses him so it would be out of character for him to do that. If it was sometime during the tournament like when Videl was getting pounded on and Goku was trying to calm Gohan down then that would be interesting. |

And why would Gohan step up to protect the guy who let him be stabbed and let his energy be pumped into Buu, over the dad who while absentee, died for him twice willingly? The closest we ever see to Gohan disobeying him is the anime when it's Piccolo about to die at the hands of Cell, and honestly it would have to be Piccolo or Krillin to piss him off Edited by Kblo247, Oct 26 2012, 02:20 AM.

I would have to agree it seems that it would be out of character for Gohan, where would he fine the willingness to actually fight his dad out of rage, how would he enrage him? it seems impossible to me, +1 Kblo247, why would Gohan fight the guy that died twice for him |

I am not saying that he will turn evil and take on his dad to be out of character. I'm talking about Gohan wanting to be a man and a hero with a name. How about when Goku didn't come back to Earth because he wanted to stay on Yadrat? Plenty of people died for Gohan. Piccolo did it willingly and came back to Gohan always. How about when Goku left his family to train a boy who he doesn't even know? You don't think that wouldn't annoy Gohan? I'm certain that would anger plenty of kids. i think goku would end up winning this fight even if gohan has more power, no way gohan has the stones to full on attack his father to do harm, i think goku would be able to do it to gohan though if it came down to it |

Lol great post Tommy Pickles. I'm sure Gohan has some stones xD. Yeah I don't want to turn this into a vs. thread. I just thought it would be cool to see father/son go at it. My mind was thinking about Anakin/Luke from Star Wars when I started this topic. |

I honestly would have like to seen Gohan or even Goten challenge Goku at the very end for just a friendly father-son fight. Gohan was interested to take on Goku at the tournament because it's been 7 years since they've last seen each other, so catching up on a little fighting for old time's sake can't be too bad or out of character imo. Goku is the guy to be the hero at the, but he very well may not be the strongest. I'm sure he'd be excited that Gohan, the strongest were to take a break from his studies to challenge him, Goku would love to test his abilities. Why not against the strongest, Gohan? Gohan would probably like the father and son time spent, and fighting against Goku who's a great father, teacher, and hero to him. |

Don't ever compare Vader vs Luke to Goku vs any of his sons. And by the way all the reasons you've posted result in Gohan truing evil or being jealous of Goku. 1. What was so bad about Goku staying on Yardrat Gohan had all his firends and his mother. 2. The trainning with Uub, Gohan was a grown man with a family I'm sure he cared less about Goku then and more his wife and child. |
