I once read somewhere that Goku knew his end was approaching somehow in the 10 days before the Cell Games similar to how Piccolo and Kami could sense their deaths in the Saiyan Saga a year in advance. Can someone tell me if this is true? And if so how does he manage to sense it? Is he supposed to be psychic or something? It would make sense seeing as how he chooses to spend the 10 days with his family rather than train. And there's his line to Krillin which is filler "These are precious times Krillin. Being together is all that matters to me right now." Was he destined to die no matter what because he'd cheated death with the heart virus? |

Maybe, it might've also been that Goku had reached a plateau in his training and realized he couldn't have gotten stronger and after Korin telling him that Cell might still be stronger, he knew that their best hope was Gohan, it was out of his hands and wanted to spend time with his family incase things didnt work out. |

He probably meant that they might die fighting Cell. I thought that you were talking about DBO where Goku sensed that his life will end soon, and went with Vegeta to fight till death (or a death match). |

No I'm talking about him actually knowing he was going to die in the Cell Games not just thinking about the strong possibility. |

I don't think he knew that. The only reason he didn't train more was because he knew that Gohan could handle Cell easily. |

He didn't sense his death through psychic power or anything. He simply understood that there was a solid chance that they weren't going to beat Cell and he wanted to spend what could have been his last days on Earth with the ones he loved. |

But he was still taking a risk in not training because he was planning on fighting first and could very well have been killed before he was even able to tell anyone about Gohan's power. Also I remember something he says in Budokai 3. He says to Master Roshi "I just wanted to see your face one last time. I might not survive this battle with Cell." And I have a feeling he says something similar to King Kai. I don't have any proof if anything like this is said in the manga. Could anyone verify if anything between him leaving the the time chamber and the day of the Cell games suggested this? Also it seems very unlike Goku not to train even if he knows Gohan can win. If he'd trained he'd have increased his own chance of personal survival but doesn't bother almost as if he knows he's going to die no matter what and training won't change that outcome.
