Dragonball GT TV Ratings

I wanted trying to find information on how popular Dragonball GT series really is in Japan by looking for Top 10 Japanese TV ratings and I couldn't find any trace of information on the TV ratings anywhere.

I did manage to find Dragonball Z was in the Top 10 for there entire run on Japanese television.

"The series TV ratings were amongst the best in Japan, with Dragon Ball Z remaining in the “Top 10″ rated animated shows during its entire run." - Kanzenshuu

Could this mean Dragonball GT did poorly in Japan?

Yeah, I heard that it did pretty poorly there. I heard it was supposed to be longer but because of the declining ratings, they shortened it considerably.

I heard GT only sold like 300,000 units in total, Worldwide.

That's pretty terrible.

As for the ratings, yeah, they had to be bad. Why would the series have been cut otherwise?

I actually remember this one site calling GT the #1 most overrated anime or something. What would that mean if GT did poorly?

That's what I thought too even if I couldn't find any sources on the popularity ratings. So I had to rely on the fan's thoughts and opinions to give hints on how popular Dragonball GT is worldwide and in Japan as well.

If Dragonball GT only lasted one year 1996 - 1997 with 64 episodes there had to be some clear signs of cancellation or axed, if the episodes are shortened down.

I read on Kanzentai that it reeled in an average of 14.7%. Which is much less than it's predecessors (DB reeled in 21.2%; DBZ reeled in 20.7%).
