Okay so we all know that the SSJ form and onwards unlocks your potential right? So why are there fixed multipliers for them? The amount of your power level increases depending on how much potential you have. When saiyans like Gohan are angered, their potential are unlocked. The same thing goes for the SSJ forms. That got me thinking that there shouldn't be fixed multipliers for the SSJ forms because all it does is unlock your potential via high power levels and emotional upheaval. And as far I know, potential unlocking multipliers are not fixed. Agreements and disagreements are welcome!

Kaioshin and Goku (IIRC), implied that Base power and SSJ power correlate, so there has to be some sort of relation. |

I don't see a reason why they wouldn't be fixed. Only Super Saiyan 3 has the potential argument going for it, since that's what it's described as in Daizenshuu 7. |

Look at it like this: Okay Saiyans' potential get unlocked when they're emotional, right? The same thing goes for the SSJ form and onwards. Next, if someone has a high power level, their potential will be greater, right? So if you have a high power level, you'll have greater potential, and in order to unlock that potential, you'll have to get all emotional, thus enabling you to access the SSJ form and onwards. In other words, the SSJ forms are potential unlocking forms. Edited by Super Gogito, Oct 14 2012, 03:07 AM.

I think they are fixed. Otherwise, there would be no point to the different SSJ levels. |

They unlock the power you have inside you that you couldn't normally access, yes, but they only carry you so far. If they really weren't fixed, why would there be a need for so many levels? The original Super Saiyan would be enough, especially after they master it since that's literally taking Super Saiyan to its best. |

That's because the SSJ form unlocks your base potential, whatever can't be kept in the base form is kept in a transformed state. The same thing goes for the SSJ and the SSJ 2 forms. Whatever can't be kept in the SSJ form is kept in the SSJ 2 form, and whatever can't be kept in the SSJ 2 form is kept in the SSJ 3 form. That's why your base form gets stronger everytime you transform. I personally think that all SSJ forms unlock your potential rather than just SSJ 3. I may be wrong though but hey it's worth a shot. while variable or gradually decreasing multipliers can work, they are generally too much hassle to worry about. fixed multipliers or sudden multiplier changes tend to get used for bookkeeping reasons. i've even seen one theory that states that ssj is an addition of power. so against frieza, goku got 140,000,000 pl from transforming, and against yakon, goku still got 140,000,000 pl from transforming. that works in slow progression theories, where the androids are actually not very much more powerful than frieza (in the one i'm talking about, #16 is only 230,000,000). |

list of canon sources: the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga. list of non canon sources: everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality. for those that blindly follow word of god | |

Theorys like that get started because the V Jump stated that SSJ Goku's power level was 150,000,000 in the Buu saga. Edited by Super Gogito, Oct 14 2012, 06:23 PM.

Because people find it easier to make PL lists that way. But there isn't a strong foundation for it in the actual story. |

Yes. I see no reason why not. If they weren't, I don't know why one form wouldn't be enough. |

Yeah, I don't like the idea of non fixed SSJ multipliers. But can you answer me this final question? If SSJ forms unlock your potential, why do they have fixed multipliers? |
