Influence is what creates your destiny.

@ Juggernaught, I agree with you that a technical lack of real free shouldn't allow a person to use it as an excuse to do whatever they want.

But destiny is predetermined so how can your destiny be decided later in your life by influence that's contradictive.

Well if it's predetermined then obviously all the universe's influence will be what decides what it is. So microbes on a meteor that crashed to Earth millions of years ago might be responsible for the cold you got one day and why you had to miss school. All the little things like this build up and shape what your destiny will be. Obviously it hasn't actually happened yet in this dimension, so it's all still being "written".

I don't know how much genetics have to do with liking a tv show but that's a discussion for another day.
You could be naturally inclined to enjoy fighting-based series.

edit: by naturally I mean genetically.

Can you scientifically explain your reasoning?

These microbes have died by the time I was born.

If you have a gene which causes you to like violence. Or also it could be gene that makes you have another condition like Bipolar, which is possibly caused partly by genetics, although we don't generally know.

Even without genetics....you could have violent parents or relatives who enjoy violence and them being violent in front of you could make you think it's a positive thing.

And those genes came from evolution.

The microbes evolved along with all life on Earth. I should have explained that more clearly but I thought it was obvious that I didn't think the same microbes stayed alive for millions of years. Evolution can be used as further evidence of what i was trying to say. We don't have a choice how we evolve. You could argue that is the destiny of the human race to evolve into a certain species.

Oh really? Then where do they come from?

Mutations.

In a population some individuals have an advantageous via mutations. They find it easier to survive and reproduce, while those without the mutation die before being able to reproduce. Over time the entire population changes (as only those with the advantageous gene survive to reproduce) and has a new trait. Then that species has evolved.
Also works the other way with a disadvantageous mutation.

Our evolution is influenced by the environment so yes it's bound to happen but that's not what destiny is. The specific outcome of evolution isn't predetermined it's all by millions of different random events.

You just described natural selection. That is evolution.

Well what I'm trying to argue is that everything that happens is predetermined. That would include evolution. What Wolf was saying is correct.
