I mean yeh I feel like I can make choices, but in reality how my brain is "wired" is down to my environment and genetics, which I can't control. Also with the Abrahamic faiths....not sure about all of them but I know with Islam they believe in free will but also believe God already knows all the choices you're gonna make....

Surely if you believe in 'Destiny', then you must believe in some form of Deity. There's no way that something like 'Destiny' could just exists on its own. I'll ask again...what is it? It can't be nothing. Is it a being?

In fact, the very act of trying to prevent a destiny from occuring can actually cause it to happen. It doesn't have to even be a huge thing. For instance it was always destined that we would use the internet on this very night. From the beginning of time, it was always going to happen.

I've heard amazing stories about it from people who defend tooth and nail that destiny exists and it never made any sense in my mind. It just seems like an esoteric response to life's unpredictabilities that is usually founded on a sense of convenience and comfort that tells you that there was nothing you could have done differently because things would have always turned out to be that way regardless. However the reasons behind making that choice go back as far as the beginning of time and my actions will have an effect on the universe. Even if it's some seemingly insignificant reaction to the particles in the air colliding with my hands. So in other words, tiny, invisible vibrations in the air, shape somebody's destiny somewhere. Whether it's on Earth or in Alpha centuri.

Inside my head of course, it was a funeral thing, hardly time to argue.... For me its not about convenience. I do believe in US having choices, but the way we make choices/our determination is dictated by genetics and how other people treat us, and how those people treat us is based on how they were treated/their genetics, so really how we live/think is out of our control. Yeh you might think to yourself "I'm going to make my own choices with conviction!" but the reason you have that conviction is still because of genetics/your environment.

I think it might be just in my head connecting all the events to a pre-supposed conclusion of drawn up. Still it's really odd that a bad day occurs and everything falls into place and can't be changed.

So no destiny does not exist. We make our own choices and that's the way it is. The leaf choking the dog is just cause and effect not destiny. Our brains are wired to look for patterns so a way to explain random events that lead to something good or bad someone called it destiny just like when we couldn't explain lightning it had to be god but we know now that isn't true. Having a destiny means that I am predetermined to do something and I can't avoid it. Past events have shaped how I will live my life. There will only ever be one outcome.
