Do you believe that no matter what happens, that certain things are set in stone, that there's a certain plan for your life that's beyond your control? It doesn't have to be something particularly good or bad, just something that you felt would come to fruition no matter what happened before that. And has anything like this happened to you in your life? |

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

No. It's against the basic laws of Nature and even against the religious ideal of 'free choice' given by God in he Abrahamic faiths. It's all consequences. |

What? You wannah peace of me?

Yeah but didn't god first create the pen and then the paper and wrote down the law and how everything should go? that's how god knows everything before its done he wrote it down and it happened he can re write and right history down in his favour. Then God created time and space and how things move around the galaxy in the correct order. that's why space is expanding... What path you take is written that way.. just explained why god is omnipotent. So destiny and luck doesn't exist in abrahamic beliefs i for one don't believe in destiny. P/S i'm not heavily religious. But i do believe in a god.... Edited by MrTsoi, Sep 6 2012, 06:55 PM.

I didn't really consider this thread with religious connotations but would it really be against many religious teachings since the concept is sort of like the idea of faith?

I suppose I have to believe in destiny since I don't believe in free will. Every action and event has a consequence. Even a gust of wind blowing in a particular direction at a certain speed. Every decision I make that I believe is my own, is in actual fact influenced by some earlier event or conversation. So because of this, I have no real control over my future and must thus have a destiny. |

I think this is a good example of how we just simply don't know. It would be wrong for me to give an answer like "yes, some things are set in stone" or "no, there is nothing set in stone". |

I don't believe in no destiny. We choose the life we live. Nothing is set out for us. |

But do we really make our own decisions? That's a very important question. Look at it like this. A leaf falls from a tree. The leaf gets stuck to dog's leg. The dog tries to eat the leaf but starts choking. Dog is eventually fine but is taken to the vet's to be safe. At the vets, the owner runs into an old friend from school. they eventually get married, have children, ect. Do you see now? The owner of the sog would not have gon to the vets if it wasn't for that tiny leaf. You can also ask yourself, why did they feel they needed to get their dog checked out, even though it would be very expensive and was likely nothing? The answer lies in the persons past. Thing happened to them that influenced them to care so much about their pet that they would spend large sums of money to make sure it was ok. There was no choice about it. Yeah he could have decided not to go to the vets. But because of past situations in his life that was never gonna happen. |

Destiny is the inevitable fate that life creates from seeingly random occurances. Yet when you look more closley at things, nothing is actually random at all. |
