I think thats been covered about why piccolo drinks water. Evolution is based on the characteristics inherited over time while fitting in to an ecological niche. In other words, it's impossible for a plant to evolve into a humanoid because evolution cannot undo the genetic basis of an organism. I thought Namekians were more like gastropod molluscs (slugs). Or maybe Namekians are able to eat and get a bit more of an energy boost, so Nameks who did that survived at some point in their pre-storm history. Or maybe there was some group of people/species that ate Namekian eggs by ramming their hand down the throat of a Namek and stealing the egg, and only the ones with teeth could stop them......just a thought lol.

At one point, the ancestors of current namekians needed teeth to eat, but they evolved a way to survive purely on water. The teeth are leftovers from their ancestors, just like our tailbones, wisdom teeth, and the remnants of the third eyelid. Namekians are still able to eat solid food, as evidenced by Piccolo eating senzu beans, but it is not required. Edited by Selsiuss, Sep 3 2012, 06:16 AM.
