Guys, let's not make this debate too personal.
Plus, in all honesty, I truly don't believe Chichi or most DBZ characters for that matter were dense to the point of analyzing them in depth on a psychological level and in correlation with real life experiences.

It's an anime, it's supposed to be a little outrageous and exaggerated.

All art is an insight into somebodies' psyche, namely the artist. In turn, an artists' psyche reflects the social norms within their life experience.

Guys, you need to look passed the fiction and see art for the messages it conveys, it doesn't matter how silly it is on the outside or what certain aspects were based off.

Beautiful.
But you'd be surprised at how often people waste their times trying to interpret signs that were never meant to be signs in the first place and actually don't have any relevant meaning. That happens in all forms of art, the technical term for that is "noise".

You're free to discuss any character. Let's just keep it at a reasonable level. Inferring that Chichi is an example of how a lot of mothers are monsters is going beyond that level.

Didn't Chi Chi also encourage him being saiyaman and protecting the innocent as long as he kept his identity secret? She didn't object to that crime fighting,

She objected to facing Frieza, Cell, Saiyans, and Androids all of which were the greatest threats there were at the time and known to be able to wipe them out. She didn't ant her kid facing that down when he was 4-10 years old. She still let him face the androids, go to Namek, and enter ROSAT knowing the magnitude of the situations. She went ape over hkm fighting Cell because Goku promised he wouldn't and logic would dictate that if Goku couldn't win, the only one who could would be Vegeta, not her little boy who had never had a serious one on one battle all by himself in his life without Piccolo, Krillin, or Vegeta beside him.

Yeah I totally agree with you 100 %. Even Piccolo got upset with Goku for having Gohan fight Cell. It's not just her that is overprotective. Lets get real.

ChiChi anger issues while justified is still worse than any other female characters...yes even more worse than 18. If you want prove look what she tried to do agains Buu.

How is it? All the female characters in the show had anger issues. Chichi was defending her son who had just died or who she had thought had just died. Anyone who had just lost a child would do that unless you are a coward.

Everyone ended up dying on Earth anyway against Buu. They got turned into chocolate. At least, she went out defending Gohan's honor, hers, etc.

Chichi was not afraid to get her hands dirty when the time came for it. Dumb? Maybe, but most parents would do anything to protect their children or get justice for them.

Bulma complained most of the time that she was on planet namek. In fact, she was about to leave Gohan on Namek while he was looking for Goku. She was going to leave a child on Namek to save her own skin.

Android 18? In the original timeline, destroyed most of the planet with android 17. Killing people for fun if you remember.

You are missing the point, dying while,protecting her son is one thing but dying for no reason than blind rage is another.

18 from mirai time is different from current 18

All characters actually showed progress and changed more maturely chichi stayed the same way she was being reckless

Vegeta had no chance of winning against Cell when Trunks was killed by Cell. Vegeta attacked out of anger and pride. This too was blind rage, but he is not criticized. Why? He actually was the reason Gohan's arm was injured. Gohan could have potentially lost that fight against Cell because of what Vegeta did. Why? Any fighter would do what they could especially in blind rage.

It is the same situation. Chichi is not a PRESTIGIOUS fighter/warrior like Vegeta per se, but she does come from a martial arts background. She did fight when she was younger. The fact that she trained Goten showed that she had still kept up some sort of form because martial arts needs to be practiced constantly to remember. Chichi did what she had too. What she felt was right. Even if it was wrong, she did it.

Goku attacking Raditz when Gohan was kidnapped is the same concept. He went with Piccolo, who WAS Goku's enemy at the time, just to protect his son. Goku alone would have had NO chance of beating Raditz. How is that not dumb? Well Goku died in the end, and Chichi did too against Buu.

She doesn't show any maturity? If she didn't show any maturity, she would not have trained Goten. In fact, she would have done the same as she did with Gohan by forcing him to study. WHen they were gathering the dballs, she got her hands dirty and went to find them. She does mature throughout the show by allowing Gohan to train with Goku even if she doesn't like it.

She may yell, scream, etc, but in the end she gives in. There is nothing wrong with her trying to keep her family safe.

Chichi shows times where she is aggressive and that is true, but most women are like that on the show. It's plain and simple.

If we want to go out of pure anime and even include a show I heavily disliked, Android 18 attacked 17 when Krillin got killed in DBGT. She did it knowing she did not have a chance. It's the same concept.
