It has been some time since I have been back to the forums, so it felt right to begin my first major post since returning with a review. And not just any game, but one guaranteed to make even the meekest of gamers baying for the blood of their enemies.

Well, as always, we begin with a spoiler free plot synopsis. You are Captain Titus of the Second Company of the Ultramarines Space Marine Chapter. You and your command squad of Veteran Sergeant Sidonus and Battle Brother Leandros are responding to a request to beat back a massive Ork WAAAAGH! on the Forge World Graia. There, you will help the beleaguered planetery defense weather the storm of Greenskins. However, deep within the manufactoria of Graia, a dark secret rests, which could wreak untold horrors.....

And now onto gameplay. Quite simply, Space Marine is Gears of War without the cover mechanic. As an Ultramarine, cover is for the weak, and you are not weak. The very first weapons you get is a bolt pistol, which fires .75 calibre self propelled explosive that detonates a half second after impact, and a combat knife so massive were it any other game, it would be a freaking long sword. And your weapons only get more dangerous from there. Lascannons that can cauterise enemy heads clean off, meltaguns that reduce any enemy into slag.....basically if it would be against the Geneva Conventions to use, it is viable here.

The music is extremely well made, mixing an old world classical with a deep heavy rock base. It really underscores how much it sucks to be on Graia right now if you aren't wearing Space Marine armour.

As a newly converted 40K fan, I say this game is a solid 10/10. Built with all the loving care of the Dawn of War games with the accessibility of a console shooter.

As a non-fan, it is a solid 9.5/10. It is a welcome escape from third person cover shooters like Gears abd Ghost Recon.

But don't just take my word for it. Play it yourself and make your thoughts known.
As for me I have only one thing left to say......
FOR THE IMPERIUM!!!!!
A Shadow is merely Darkness in the presence of Light

Awesome review man! I haven't played the game myself, but I think that I will now.

I love the way you structured the review. Good, spoiler-free synopsis. Enough detail to give a general idea, not enough to potentially ruin anything.

Thank you for the review man, I'm definitely going to go and try it out if its similar to GOW.
