Hey everyone I wanted so share something I made. A Dragon Ball Z episode I drew. It took me many months. But I always wanted to make my own episode. I did take the liberty of creating my own villain. Watched the entire vid. Took some notes. Thot it was ok, animation wavers and character proportions change. Vegeta's voice was almost bang on, Piccolo reminded me of Christian Bale from Batman, and Yamcha's little cry of horror had me laughing. Loved it having the Bruce Faulconer soundtrack throughout, creates the DBZ feel. You have used the background and character drawings from the actual show to cut some corners, but gives it the familiar dragonball z feel also. When you do your own animation and combat, it reminded me of the Stick-man fights you see on youtube but i love them so for me works well for this genre. Good little clip too, has a beginning, a middle and an end. Also you get a origins to Sage's creation, simple but effective. Her end is brutal, haha Vegeta uses a nifty combo to overwhelm her, should thank Krillin for that one haha (actually he uses the same move on Gohan when he goes Great Ape and removes his tail...). I like seeing these fictonal tales featuring the DBZ characters. Oh, also enjoyed how you made the Dragonballs themselves a part of the tale, so it wasn't just a fight between super-powered crazies, thats always important as that is what the series is all about. You plan to do anymore? |

It was amusing. The only negative thing I have to say is, Yamcha is in it. LOL. Good work though. |

Piccolo's voice is awesome, I love it. It reminds me of How it should have ended Batman's voice lol. Awesome video. Vegeta finally gets to kill the villain.

Piccolo = Freakin' Batman. Perfect. This was incredible! You're extremely talented in the area of animation....did you do it yourself? I'm guessing you didn't do all the voices, but regardless, it was all amazing. Oh yeah, and LOL @ Yamcha, haha. Great work. Hopefully we get to see some more from you after some time. |

Thanks! Defiantly took some short cuts. But nothing where I felt people would be like " oh thats cheap". The main thing was it was basically me by myself drawing and I wanted to get this thing done in this century. The thing is when drawing them moving and fighting that's a lot of frames of drawing so its hard to keep that level of detail. But I mean this was just fandom and to be entertaining, Im not trying to be Bob Ross here lol. I might do some more depending on how well this one is received, *cough cough* would love for it to go viral *cough* *cough*. I'm kinda Dragon Ball burnt out at the moment. But I would defiantly like to do more stuff in the future. As for the video itself: I thought everything out a head of time, making sure I got all the elements. Pointless talking, self boasting, inevitable defeat, Dragon Balls. I wanted a full story arc, and wanted the villain to have a motive and not just be all "argh I'm evil". I also wanted her to be a formidable threat. After reading all these VS sections in the forums I was thinking, 'what if you had a villain that couldn't be over powered? ever? " I had some deleted scenes where Piccolo explains that when she got the Zenkai from the Wish when Vegeta hit her with the Big Bang attack, Sages' power had jumped way way up there. But That her weakness was that she had no real experience fighting because her power was unearned, and Vegetas edge would go to his skills over her power. This goes back to a argument I had with a friend a long time ago; could he, a martial artist, defeat a body builder much stronger then him. At the time I wasn't sure what time period this was supposed to take place so I ldidn't have any mention of Goku, wanted to leave it up to the viewer. My biggest issue was I knew people expected Vegeta to win. I really considered having her beat Vegeta. In a lot of my movies the badguys win, I don't like being predictable. I was like, people probably expect Vegeta to use some super attack to kill her, so I'll do something different. The original script also called for Trunks to step in at the end, but I really wanted this to be all about Vegeta. Also I had Sages hair change color because it was supposed to be symbolic, that she had like metaphorically 'become Vegeta' she had become the bully she was fighting. Or something like that. Yup all myself. Took about 3 months. Voices were just my friends, though I found an indie voice actor to do Vegeta on the internet. I did Piccolo and Yamcha. I would like to do some more one day. Originally I had set it up with the Toonami bumpers, and had like a commercial break. I even made a fake commercial parodying those bad 90s toy commercials.

That was pretty amazing! I liked the sound affects you added, the story was not all that original, but I still like it. BIG like for the voices as well, Vegeta's voice was quite good, while Piccolo indeed sounded like Christian Bale from Batman. Also, Sage sounded a lot like Number 18. Is Bulma's voice done by the same girl? Enjoyed Vegeta's way of defeating Sage>Final Flash+Red Destructo Disk>CLEVER. Finally, 10/10 for the effort. My final note is.....................................................................................................................................................can't decide, but It's somewhere 8 and 9 out of ten of course:D |

Ha thanks for the input. Yeah Vegetas voice worked out the best defiantly. I really had to hunt for someone who could do it well. That was two different peoples voices for the girls though. I changed the pitch down a bit for Sage, which may be why she sounds like 18. Originally they were flipped actually. From the start I knew I wanted to have a cleaver ending. My issue with most the movies they always kill the villain with like a Kamehameha or something. At least in the show each Villain was killed differently. |
