So far there hasn't been a Saiyuki Manga thread yet--the reason I'm posting it is specifically because: 1. The manga/Anime was based loosely on the Journey to the West (the same story that Dragon Ball was loosely based on). 2. While the Anime has 3 series and 2 OVAs out, the Manga--obviously so--is better (Disregarding Saiyuki (Season 1), Saiyuki Gaiden (OVA) and Saiyuki Reload Prelude (OVA)) the Saiyuki Reload/Reload Gunlock has too much filler. 3. The Manga is essentially almost complete and the journey is almost over. Just going to post the different pictures for Manga with Wiki Links(Not leaks pirates). I will post these in the order in which they came out--and next to it I will post the order chronologically. PERSONALLY I suggest if you haven't read it, I would read it in the order suggested--I am an Avid fan of Saiyuki, and feel that the order I suggest would be the easiest for reading. There is really only one manga in the set that should NOT be read until after currently stated--just because it will confuse the reader, and essential information is given throughout the first series. The only reason I list it chronologically is just for historical reference for people who HAVE read it. Note: It is not a spoiler to know the Chronological order of the events. You will, and shall enjoy the series just as well knowing that you are not chronologically up to date. It is my personal belief to follow the order I give, just to get into the plot of the manga. Note**: You CAN read Saiyuki in Chronological order--since in the Journey to the West tale it would be read that way--it does spoil a bit, but it explains things as well. Imagine the Star Wars movies--would you rather see the prequel (I-III) or the latter (IV-VI) first? I can appreciate both methods of thinking, and ways of reading since I have read fully through it. And those who are getting into the series may appreciate the novel more in its entirety following the chronology. Note***: Saiyuki Reload Blast finally released its last 2-3 volumes this year--the Minekura has been ill and finally recovered. So thankfully it is done! It's been told that there may POSSIBLY be another issue of Saiyuki coming out--entitled Saiyuki but it hasn't been confirmed yet. So to date this is the list.
Well then--I guess we can begin discussion, hopefully. And if this doesn't become a discussion--it's a small wiki for those who wish to see Saiyuki the Manga. |
