And Andy Murray just beat Roger Federer in the final of the men's tennis singles to win gold ![]() Am I dreaming or something? This just doesn't happen to British athletes. |

Ennis and the long jump guy were probably the biggest surprises for me. Ennis hasn't got gold for a while now and well not sure the other guy was even expected to get near gold. Natasha Jonas through to the quarters. Weird on Wikipedia says she's orthodox but in her fight she was southpaw. edit: Bolt won......pretty amazing Not sure what happened to Asafa Powell Also hockey rules are silly. If you ask for a referral you have to specifically say what you're looking for. Argentina said there was a foot after the goalkeeper rebound but it was just before, so the goal stayed on the scoreboard. Pretty silly really, especially with internationals with people who speak different first languages. Edited by TrunksinSwimmingTrunks, Aug 5 2012, 09:39 PM.

Still not caring about the Olympics at all. People seem to be paying a lot more attention because its in Britain, but to be honest, location doesn't mean anything. I assure you that British people wont care as much about the Olympics in 2016. That being said, I watched the 100M and it was eh. |

Yeah it was and the boxing is awful too. Most of it has been pretty dull to be honest. I enjoyed the gymnastics and the tennis but not much else. |

The event I enjoy watching is the swimming, everything else is boring really and now the swimming is over. Since yesterday I've been really impressed with the British athletes today though, most of all Ben Ainslie for pulling off that win against the Danish competitor and retaining his gold medal and bizarrely I'm pretty happy with Christine Ohuruogu's silver medal. She did so well in that race to even get that medal considering the woman that beat her had finished races at that speed 42 more times than Christine has been able to. Despite the fact I don't really like Andy Murray that much I'm happy he beat Federer as well. For British athletes this Olympics has clearly been a success, since all the big names we hear all the hype about have performed to the highest standard. We expect a lot from the rowers who have brought back the best medal haul in that event ever, we expect a lot from our cyclists who are doing a great job, and we've expected a lot from the likes of Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis and Andy Murray for a long time now and they always seemed to fall a little short, but right now it came together and they lived up to all that hype. The fact they've shown they can compete on the biggest stage has shown me a new side to them all and I've gained a lot of respect for them, whereas before I either did not care in the slightest or thought they were just hacks that weren't worth all the fuss and bother. It feels good to see us actually winning some things, even if we do still suck at the football. |

The 100 is weird. It's just over so quick lol. I feel sorry for Powell, never won an individual Olympic medal. Really I disagree location matters. For the outdoor events the weather can make a difference, and the crowds are different at different Olympics (like here they're invisible). I don't know if I'll be into the 2016 Olympics. This is my first one where I have control over what I watch/when I watch it since I'm older now and have a decent pc as well/its on the BBC website, so I can't really compare it with Beijing. I like the Olympics because I get to see sports I never would otherwise all in one place/time. Otherwise I don't really watch much sport. Japan have so many medals but only like 2 or 3 golds so are low in the table. Kazakhstan on the other hand have only 5 medals but they're all gold so they're high in the table. Not really bothered about the table, just think its interesting how different countries spread out their success. |

Finally another gold for Australia. It was getting pretty embarrassing. We seem to be good at coming second this Olympics. Just need a third gold to be above New Zealand

I'm watching and enjoying the women's boxing. I've only seen one questionable decision so far compared to the men's competition where every other decision was awful. the boxing quality is much better from the women too. Best fighter I've seen so far is an Irish woman. |

Natasha Jonas got beat....by an Irish woman, the number 1 lightweight seed. Maybe that's who you mean.... I actually enjoy the women's more than the mens. It just seems sort of cleaner. British Savannah Marshall (what a cool name btw) lost. Was a good fight though. I think the strongest boxer I've seen was the Russian lightweight Sofya Ochigava. Really explosive style, going forwards and retreating. I reckon she'll be in the final. Watching the Japan-France game. Japan are pretty good for a team that can't play football lol.... edit: A few months ago Ochigava fought Taylor this is what happened http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8mjlVFoYBQ They've fought twice and Taylor won both times Edited by TrunksinSwimmingTrunks, Aug 6 2012, 05:27 PM.

Saw the finals for the badmittion gold medal between China and Malaysia. Was so intense, didnt realize badmitton could be so entertaining. Malaysia was going for their first gold medal in anything, while China was looking to get a clean sweep at all the golds in badmitton. China won, which was sort of sad in my opinion. Was hoping that the Malaysian guy would make history but still a really great match. |

Lots of British boxers through to the semi finals. Nicola Adams of the flyweight division, Luke Campbell in the bantam weight, Anthony Joshua super heavyweight and Anthony Ogogo of middleweight are all guaranteed a bronze medal at the very least even if they all lose their next fights. it's a shame that Savannah Marshall was robbed of the bronze by a terrible judging decision. Her opponent barely even threw any punches, she just clinched for two rounds. Awful decision. |

Gb has five boxers through to the semi finals now, one of whom is a woman. It's a great achivement for British boxing. |
