This GB team has not really played much together before. Certainly not in serious competitions. I don't think they had much time to practise.

edit: @McEsse

I hope not, would like to see them play again. If they had won then almost definitely they would have sorted out having a GB team for every Olympics, but now it looks unlikely. The football associations of Wales/Scotland/Northern Ireland don't want to risk losing their separate status under FIFA, which is why they aren't keen on having a GB team at all.

Meh, didn't really care about the football anyway tbh. I'd prefer if there wasn't football at the Olympics in the first place, it just doesn't go.

Anyway, Team GB

I'm loving the look of the medal table, 3rd place and 5 golds clear of 4th. 13 more golds than Australia :innocent:

Atleast I'm not living in an economic poor country, who relies on swimmers to bring in their golds.

*cough*

We've got 3 gold medals in the Athletics so far, so we don't rely on those 3 events above completely (but I expect that the majority of medals we'll get have already been won, be happy to be proven wrong though).

We weren't aiming for top of the medals table, China and USA always dominate the Olympics and this year is no exception. So far we're easily surpassing all expectations, never been more pleased with how an Olympics has gone medal wise for GB.

USA has 26 gold medals, however, 16 of those are for swimming. So they're not really as dominant in these games as they first appear. Even their basketball team isn't hugely impressive this year. China on the other hand have more medals across the board.

Yes, but China also is failing drug tests everywhere.

I haven't heard of any Chinese athletes failing a drugs test this year. They did however have a pair of badminton players disqualified.

I've actually been surprised because some British athletes who were hyped up actually won medals. I feel like that's never happened, I'm so used to everybody losing that I'm not used to it when we win stuff. I've been impressed by GB's gold medalists, especially yesterday with Jessica Ennis, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah winning in the athletics, and today with Ben Ainslie defeating his Danish rival in the sailing. Worst thing that Danish dude did as piss off Ben Ainslie.
