Yeah , Morocco desereves to go through the quarter final cuz they did play an awesome against Japan and only loses cuz of fatal mistake of the goalkeeper and bad luck . |

I hope that GB doesn't win a gold. So many GB athletes have been over-hyped and it'd be a wake up call if we didn't score first in anything. |

I don't really think they've been overhyped. I mean Tom Daley has had 2 Commonwealth Games Golds, and Golds in the World Championships and European Championships. Adlington got 2 Golds 4 years ago, and 2 at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and a Gold in the 800m free last year in the World Championships. The guys who were expected to do well in the cycling are all former champions. |

Bradley Wiggins  I was at work when he was competing, so we only had the free tv channel. Just when he was about to ride, they switched to the Australia female basketball game! WTF!!! I was annoyed, I think everyone would rather see the Tour De France winner do his time trial (a medal event) than watch a fairly meaningless group game for basketball. |

Total joke this is turning out to be this games.... the overspendinh, the opening, the security, the ticketing and the boxing refereeing. Ridiculous, Sangwan's loss the other day was questionable, and now Ali Mazaheri of Iran got DQed. The Cuban he was against got a warning for having his head low, and then the Iranian got 2 warnings for holding and then got DQed. He didn't leave the ring for a while and refused to stand next to the ref, although he did shake hands with the Cuban team. Guessing he's gonna appeal, although not sure that's gonna do anything anyway. Ref was German, can't really read anything into that for sure though. edit: the Cubans themselves knew how ridiculous it was, Jose Laurdet Gomez covered his head with a towel as he walked out. I have noticed some questionable decisions in the boxing also. Not just the boxing but the synchronised diving decisions have been iffy too. Everything else seems ok though so far. |

Watching Anthony Joshua vs Erislandy Savon Cotilla. Was a little surprised that Joshua took the first by a point, and then really surprised that he had a 2 point lead after the second.....shall see....3rd round missed the first 20 seconds typing this but from the rest of it the Cuban had a clear lead. Anthony Joshua's been given it 17-16. Can't believe that really, was close but don't think Joshua took it at all. edit: was just looking at this http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19072677 some interesting DQs from history on the left. edit: Hockey umpire couldn't understand the Spanish players lol. As for GB vs Uruguay in the football, Bellamy was very good, and really the rest of the team played nicely. Ref was noticeably great, getting in quickly to speed up the game and stop any disputes that could lead to additional yellow cards, and playing advantage a decent bit. Can't remember if I said it before but I think the GB women's team has been much better quality. edit again: Ok just saw the end of the Anthony Ogogo fight. So how does it work when the scores are even? The judges just pick a fighter? That's a pretty stupid way of deciding it really. That's pretty much it. If the scores are even then it goes to who they personality think was the better quality fighter. It doesn't happen too often and it also means fighters have to be more stylish. So it's not that dumb really. Just saw that GB have 2 more golds. One for shooting and one for canoe slalom. And one of our teams got disqualified for breaking the rules. So that's a shame. But hey, at least Andy Murray is through to the semi finals so it's not all bad. |

Apparently some Indian woman randomly went and walked with the Indian athletes during the opening but nobody noticed her at the time lol. Apologised when she went home and said she's inspired to compete now.... Be nice to get a win in some kind of football/soccer tournament before I die. Spoiler: click to toggle

Awww man the British women's football team are out. Hopefully the women's game will get more attention in the future though, would definitely like to at least see the World Cup coming on the BBC. Japan played fantastically against Brazil, defensively they were strong, and the second goal was just phenomenal. Shouldn't be a surprise though, since they are current world champions (from the 2011 world cup). Wth this The Times woman on the BBC said she'd be surprised if anyone watched the whole olympics without crying.... Anyway.... Murray is through to face Federer, rematch of Wimbledon. Looking good for the sailing (I loved Ben Ainsley's strategical work today) and Heptathlon for Britain, probably at least medals for those. This Olympics has got me interested in Judo, not following the scoring 100 percent though. Think that's done now though, still the boxing (Selby looked great today, still yet to see Stalker and Natasha Jonas) and maybe TKD to look forwards too. Not sure when the wrestling events start, never watched it before. Britain beat Pakistan in the hockey 4-1. Short corner decisions were poor really, Britain had a couple of questionable ones and Pakistan probably should've had one more, and since a short corner is usually gonna end up being a goal it would be bad if Britain didn't win. 1 of their goals was just brilliant though. Britain are just insane at cycling, dominating in most of their races. Men's football tomorrow. If I was gonna bet I'd go with Japan, Britain, Brazil and Mexico getting through. Who knows though. |
