I didn't think Michael Phelps would do this bad. Good thing his partner won for US as it was pretty lopsided. |

The person who won Gold for Kazakhstan in cycling is 40 years old. He was apparently planning on retiring after this run. Pretty awesome to go out on top like that. |

GB finally got a medal. Silver in the women's cycling. It's a start I suppose. |

A North Korean weight lifter who's 5 feet tall set a world record in his weight class of 56 kg (around 120 pounds). He lifted 168 kg (370.4 pounds) over his head in a clean and jerk. That's more then 3 times his body weight. Pretty amazing. |

I just watched the women's hockey. GB beat Japan 4-0 so that was good. Andy Murray got past the first round in the tennis earlier too. Just saw a British woman get bronze in the 400 meter freestyle swimming. Men's 100m backstroke looks promising for gb too. |

Japan aren't a top top side in women's hockey but yeh it's a promising start. Went to Newcastle to see Japan vs Morocco and Spain vs Honduras. Both decent games even if they were both 1-0s in the end. Honduras' number 15 was great so wouldn't be surprised to hear about European clubs being interested in him (think he's in the US right now), and their keeper and the Japanese keeper were both outstanding. Newcastle looked nice from what I saw, thought it would be more dull. The boxing doesn't seem to be getting much coverage on the BBC so far. I prefered it with Beijing when you could choose from several events instead of just having 3 channels showing stuff. Anyway, I'm looking forwards to Tom Stalker's fight. |

Hmmmm yeh on Freeview you only get stuff on BBC One/Three/channel 301/302, bit silly. Oh well I have the internet so I can watch stuff on there, and have an HDMI cable so I can watch it off a computer on the TV. 15 yr old Ruta Meilutyte won the gold in 100m Breaststroke. She lives in Plymouth but is swimming for Lithuania. Tom Daley is from Plymouth too, guess you should get in on the act as well Pelador. Missy Franklin is great I agree. Gymnastics was interesting, felt sorry for the Ukranian team who thought they had a bronze until Japan appealed and were correctly given an increased score to take them up to silver, and push Britain to 3rd. Watched Sangwan vs Falcao Florentino, Florentino won but the scoring was questionable, with Sangwan not being given the second round even though he really looked like he took it. |

I'm starting to wonder if GB will win gold in anything. Everytime we have a potential prospect, they screw it up. Like Tom Daley in the synchronised diving today or any of our swimmers. Even Kazakstan has more golds than GB. Still at least we have some medals even if they aren't gold. |

Yeh I'm surprised they haven't had any yet. Tennis might be a good chance with Murray, or in the boxing. Mohamed Farah ought to get at least one, since he's the world champion from just one year ago, and he even beat The Cube.... Tom Stalker from Huyton finally fights on Saturday. He'll be going up against 2010 commonwealth games Light Welterweight winner Manoj Kumar, who got a strong win today. Stalker beat Kumar a year ago quite strongly, but it should be a good fight. GB have a decent chance for the Women's football. They're definitely looking strong now, and ought to beat Canada I think. Played brilliantly against Brazil, could have had another couple of goals. |

I'd like Morocco to win too. Honduras and Morocco are both good so for me I don't mind who goes through. If Japan don't win Honduras will go through. |
