Anyway I thought the lighting of the torch was fantastic an creative. I ont have anything against Paul McCartney but I was really hoping they were going to bring someone else so I hope they have other performances with other British Artists an bands. The queen and James Bond was funny, I bet its quite a moment for an actor too. I cant wait for the competitions/events to begin

I figured it would be disappointing. Watched a programme about the Olympics and one opening even had flashy lights and an alien spaceship, complete with alien about... Couldn't see ours being that spectacular lol. Is there a website that streams it for free at all? I can't really get on the tv much to watch.

Kasakstan just won that long bike race with columbia coming second. I think there's swimming later and I'm confident that both the men and women GB teams can grab at least bronze medals in those.

Posts: 11,612 Group: Legend Member #88 Joined: January 16, 2005	Ill be following the Mens and womens swimming events mostly. Just watched the 400m individual medley for men an women. Phelps is obviously a favorite since hes the defending gold medalist but he barely made it into the seeding with the 8th spot. It sucks because Cseh Laszlo did so well and was probably the reason Michael decided to accelerate beyond his relaxed form to come in first. The last heat was ridiculous because more swimmers qualified more in that fast paced heat eliminating at least 3-5 swimmers just from one race. The final for the 400m Medley isn't for another couple hours or so, gonna be exciting. Phelps set the World and Olympic record at 4:03 and the fastest so far is 4:10 so I don't think anyone will be beating it in this event.

Posts: 11,612 Group: Legend Member #88 Joined: January 16, 2005	Agreed the Aussie girls did well an they werent safe with the exchanges which made the difference I think for them to pull out the milliseconds for a win. Im really not sure what GB accels in with Olympics besides football this year. Uraguay will be tough. Who knows how Spain will do but I have high hopes for GB getting some medals. Theyve hosted pretty well thus far I think. But I think you'll see a lot more Russians winning medals soon! I think USA only has like one gold medal so far and that was in mens swimming but I couldve missed an event. Its still early but China has a bunch of golds already.

There's a couple of cyclists as well so we'll see how it goes. Can't really avoid a China/USA dominated Olympics because that's what it always is.
