When I was a little girl my parents would read Bunicula to me. I really liked The Celery Stalks at Midnight! :=]:

For me it had to be Harry Potter. The whole run spanned from the age of about 9-10 right up until 17 I think, and I remember the excitement each time the next installment was released. I feel like I spent part of my childhood at Hogwarts. It helped that I was pretty much the same age as the characters when reading each book.

Another series I had great fun reading was the Animorphs books. I really liked the premise and I read quite a few of the books, but not in any order. I'd like to some day go back and read them all, start to finish in order, to please my inner child :P
I really can't agree more. Harry Potter was just the biggest adventure of all time. And more so, living during that time, it was fulfilling reading each book, waiting for each release and seeing exactly how the entire thing was going to finish off. Kids now a days may enjoy the books, but they're not going to have that sense of pure nostalgia that we as 90's kids had. We couldn't just read each book every time we finished, we had to wait and it built up that nostalgia to this day.

For people born later, kids today, the books are just fun readings. For us, this was an entire adventure that spanned out for years.

Lol, totally remember that. I always keep a box of tooth picks close by if my veggies ever grow fangs.

I'd say it's a tie between Holes and Artemis Fowl. Ender's Game, Hatchet and My Side of the Mountain get honorable mentions. Loved Animorphs and Cam Jensen too come to think of it. I was a lil bookworm back in the day.
