Well early screenings are starting so spoilers will begin circulating but I'll refrain from posting any here.
On another note, am I the only one that would rather see a World's Finest film over a Justice League movie? It'll probably never happen but how epic would that be?

IGN gave the movie 9/10 - http://au.ign.com/articles/2013/06/11/man-of-steel-review
+Great cast, especially Costner & Crowe. +A genuine first contact sci-fi epic. +Brisk pace, lots of action, scary villains. +Krypton's out of this world.
– Why so serious, Superman?

From what I've heard the action scenes in this film are on a larger scale than The Avengers.
The main complaint I've seen is that the rest of the cast isn't developed as well. Probably because the main focus is on Superman. Some aren't fans of Amy Adam's Lois Lane while others seem to think she was great.
We'll just have to see when it comes out later this week.

David Goyer’s deal with the studio is part of a "huge 3-picture deal he signed at Warner Bros for Man Of Steel, the sequel, and Justice League with Superman."

I think that sounds good, it needs to be focused on him.
Superman Returns had way too many scenes of Lois and her boyfriend/husband and her son and they were nearly all pointless.
Everyone knows the story of Clark and Lois it doesn't need to be given another hour of detail right away...

Anyways I've made up my mind, I'm going to end up watching this movie in theaters. As I have said before not a big superman fan but the movie does seem to be good with the latest tv spots and trailers coming out.

Well it's just your generic love story really except that the man is a super powered alien, it doesn't need hours of screen time when the main thing Superman movies have lacked is decent and a decent amount of action.
I really wish an IMAX cinema was near where I live
What movies do you think could rival this? Personally I feel it's definitely going to be the best movie for at least this half of the year(well it's kind of in the middle but w/e)

I saw it earlier in REAL3D at the cinema. There wasn't any 3D that really flew out of the screen at you but it was there, just subtle enough to give the film an extra dimension rather than making the audience flinch.
I will start with things that I didn't like
Spoiler: click to toggle The main thing that bothered me about this film was light reflecting off the camera. I don't know if this was deliberate or not but I thought it looked really terrible and it ruined the immersion of the film.
Secondly whenever Superman flied through in the air it looked really fake. It looked great when he was floating but whenever it showed him moving at speed it looked awful.
Thirdly I personally found a lot of the dialogue to be pretty poor and it made the characters feel two dimensional to me at times. I think the script might have been a bit on the amateurish side.
Fourthly the music that kept playing over and over started to get on my nerves about half way through the film.
Fifthly there was a scene where some aircraft attempted to take out some Kryptonians and failed, leading to their demise. So Instead of perhaps withdrawing to reassess the situation, they send in some infantry. Not even tanks, foot soldiers. After a hand full of aircraft had just been taken out by a single being in front of everyone, they send in infantry.
In the same scene, one downed airman from a crashed helicopter tries to shoot a Kryptonian with his assault rifle. The bullets have no effect. So does he give up and wait for his inevitable end? No he grabs a smaller sub machine gun and tries again. Still no effect. Does he get the message? Does he f***. He pulls out his handgun and tries yet again to harm the bullet proof alien. Oh but wait, he's still not done. Realising that she is bullet proof he pulls out his knife and challenges her with that.
A short time later, the antagonist is threatening Superman's step mother. So he fly charges him through several buildings and vehicles and stuff to protect her. Except what about all the people who would have just been caught up in that scuffle? There were enough explosions and collapsing rubble to harm at least one person.
Near the end of the film, Superman has the antagonist Zod in a headlock. Zod activates his laser eyes to try and burn three nearby civilians. So Superman's all like NOOOOOOO and snaps his neck. But... Superman can fly. He didn't need to do that at all. He could have just lifted Zod into the air.
Lastly Kevin Kostner
Well that's a few bad things about the film. I wish could remember exact lines of dialogue too because it was pretty bad at times.
Anyway on with the good.
Krypton looks awesome
Russel Crowe's fight with Zod is fantastic.
Russel Crowe kicks a lot of a*** in the prologue scenes.
The man playing Zod is the best actor in the film by far.
The fight scenes were all great
The way the female Kryptonian beat up those soldiers looked really cool.
I liked the designs of the Kryptonian ships.
Most of the special effects were fantastic
I really liked the costume designs
So I think that means I can give it a good 7/10. It wasn't anything mind blowing and it definitely had a fair degree of flaws but it was still a good film none the less.

I just discovered Henry Cavill who plays Superman is actually a really posh Englishman who was almost chosen to play James Bond.

My review *spoiler free*
Spoiler: click to toggle I’ve been hyped for the release of this movie for a little over a year now. When I found out that Nolan, Snyder, and Goyer were all going to work on a Superman film I was ecstatic. I anticipated something on the level of “Batman Begins”, redefining the iconic character for a new generation. When the negative reviews started pouring in earlier this week I just assumed critics were too attached to Christopher Reeve’s Superman. Well I saw “Man of Steel” today and my initial reaction after the film was, “meh”.
No it’s not as bad as some people are making it out to be but it’s nothing special either. Throughout the film I never felt engaged with any of the characters. Almost everyone except for Clark was underdeveloped and while Amy Adams does play a great Lois there’s practically no chemistry between her and Henry Cavill. I expected a lot more from Michael Shannon’s Zod, but I guess he did a good job with what he was given. Faora was an excellent villain but it’s a shame that they didn’t expand upon her further. Henry Cavill though does play a fantastic Superman and he’s not the “emo” many critics are labeling him as.
Pacing was a big issue with crucial scenes feeling a bit too rushed. Because of this some parts aren’t as emotional as they should be. Plus a lot of the dialogue came off as bland or corny, especially from the military personnel. This is just further proof that without heavy involvement from Nolan, Goyer’s work falls short.
The parts of the story that really shined would have to be the events on Krypton and the third act. Actually seeing the technology and animals on Krypton was a huge upgrade from the bland world we were given in Donner’s Superman. Russell Crowe did a fantastic job as Jor-El and his confrontation with Zod before Krypton’s eventual demise was tense and exciting. During the third act s*** goes down as Superman faces off with Zod. Now this isn’t some pansy Superman, he kicks a*** throughout the entire film. Some might say that the movie had too much action but I didn’t feel that way. His faceoff against Zod has to be one of the best fights I’ve seen in a superhero film to date. People weren’t kidding when they said that the action here far surpasses “The Avengers”. While the final outcome of the fight has stirred some controversy I didn’t really have a problem with it. At the very end of the film we’re given the impression that Man of Steel was just set up and that things are just getting started.
As for the music, Zimmer once again delivered with a score, which was almost as good as his work on “The Dark Knight Trilogy”. Everything was filmed with a single camera and the movie is filled with cgi. Surprisingly neither of these things bothered me at all as the special effects here are top notch.
However while the acting, music, special effects, and action were all great the bland script, lack of character development, and poor structure really hinder the film from its true potential. This isn’t the “Superman Begins” many of us hoped for and it’s nowhere near Nolan’s Batman. Sure I might still buy it and I’ll watch the sequel but some serious changes need to be made at DC. If it’s true that Nolan will have even less involvement in the sequel then I’m seriously worried, not only for Man of Steel but for the future DC film verse. They either have to fire Goyer or get someone to help him if they want their future movies to be successful. Overall Man of Steel is a fun film but it fails to meet the expectations many had for it. I guess if anything it was just good enough.
7.5/10

You've pretty echoed what I was thinking about it. The script was... perhaps better suited to a tv series than a high budget action flick like this. I didn't actually find the acting that great, although that might be largely because of said script. I was going to comment about the lack of chemistry between certain characters and lack of development but I didn't want to cast too much of a bad light on it because it's still a good film and the best Superman. I didn't think the structure was poor though. I thought the screenplay was actually very good. I liked the way it developed Superman's character so that we saw how he learned how to stand up to bullies like Zod and be a bigger man than them.
That being said, hardly any of the other characters had nearly as much depth to them. Micheal Shannon did an excellent job portraying Zod. He could have made him a typical one dimension villain as I believe the script was trying to do but he seemed to add some depth to the character which might not have been there had a lesser actor been playing the role.

Loved it. And personally, I loved the focus on him. It made a difference compared to the previous reboot -- it was nice to see him humanised.
