Fight between Goku and Frieza a little disappointing?

While watching the battle between Goku and Frieza on Namek, did you find the fight a tad bit disappointing?
Well tbh i did.

There was a huge lead up to the confrontation between these two titans and the fight was hyped before hand.
So naturally i was pumped to see the fight like everyone else.

And the fight happened, and to my surprise all it contained was flashy lights, huge energy blasts and teleporting.
Dont get me wrong the fight started of epic than it just went downhill from there until it picked up again when Goku became a SSJ.

It just felt like the whole 18 episode fight was a huge fire work show tbh.
This fight was good, but imo was inferior to many other battles in the series.

Well thats just what i think,
what are your thoughts about the fight?

On a side note im speaking about the fight that happened in the anime, not the manga

Well it isn't one of my favourites but I do think it was pretty epic, if a bit slow at times.

NO.1 Miz fan in the world . MIZ IS AWESOME .

Goku and Frieza fight in the manga was the Best , Toei just mess things by making the 5 minutes filler .

Goku vs Frieza in manga was top-notch, up until pre- 100% Freiza.

After that, the fight was sloppy at best, with so many sub-plots, over the top plot devices. Not to mention, the fights were kinda disappointing. Flying punches, frenctic punches, etc. It definetly reflected on AT's immediate, yet somwhat short-lived attempt at ending the series.

Animw wise: I used to insult the saga. The fight especially attributed to it. Forget about the pacing, goddamned pacing doesn't bother me. Its the art as well as animation. Dont get me wrong, they looked like drawn by pre-kindergarden kid. Its one of the reason my cousin looked down on DBZ as nothin more than over-hyped showed. It speaks about action, but that alone was mediocre. Another reason I couldn't urge my pals to watch the saga.

Now, I've come to learn to appreciate how much effort was put into the saga, the fight. No kiddin, it is epic. Even if its animation &art bothers me to some extent, thats when the Fast Forward Button comes in handy to me.

Personally, I wouldn't call it as a disappointment, somewhat below-average fight. Goku vs Cell (Anime:No More Rules) was a masterpiece for me. No offence, but sometimes, the comparisons are inevitable.

I agree,
there where bits in the anime where it was difficult to watch, because of the poor quality and huge explosions going of in the backgrounds it felt like a Michael bay film lol.

And this fight lasted for about 18 goddamn episodes which annoyed the hell out of me.

What i look for in a dbz fight is good coordinated fight scenes, where you can see were each punch has landed, no over the top explosion and no teleporting after every second.
I think goku vs cell did that right.

Overall this fight did not live up to its hype IMHO.

To me Frieza vs Goku fight had to much destructive force than later fights.

With that performance its hard to belive that Kid Goten or Kid Trunks could actualy put a fight against Goku and Freiza ( Namek saga ), yet we all know they can take it without trying.

That may be true. The fight was destructive, flashy, too much trash talk, dragged.

It certainly has a place in DBZ, but comparing other fights like Goku vs Cell or Goku vs Majin Vegeta or Goku vs Boo, they make this fight forgetable.
