Was Bebi really a villain?

Bebi to me is one of most interesting villains in any of the dragonball series. The reason I like him so much is because his motives are more complex than just becoming the strongest/ruling the universe/destroying the universe. He was the sole survivor of an attack from the saiyans that wiped out his race. His primary motive wasn't evil, he sought to revive the Tuffle race by creating a new Tuffle planet with him at the helm which he succeeded in doing. Even his attack against the saiyans can be argued to be justified as a way of protecting his people from Goku's rampage when he turned into the Golden Oozaru, attacking his own family and others until Pan was able to make him remember his humanity. He may have done alot of immoral things but it could be argued that taking over people, particularly the saiyans and bulma was a means to an end in restoring his race's planet and protecting them.

Well, in order to restore the Tuffles, he ultimately wanted to destroy the remaining Saiyans, so yes, I think he'd be a villain.

His reason was so that history wouldn''t repeat itself. The saiyans in his eyes were the evil ones that destroyed his people and when Goku transformed into a golden oozaru he started reenacting those events by attacking everything in sight, even his own family members.

Ya the saiyans destroyed his race and he has the right to be mad. But he went to the extreme and he understood that it was King Vegeta and his generation not Prince Vegeta and Goku's. I think all of it was a well thought plan but that makes him a villain in my eyes.

His intentions would be the same of anyone who had lost their race at the hands of another race. However, what separates an honorable and heroic avenger from a sadistic and bloodthirsty one are the means that the vengeance is carried out by. Baby killed people in space and enslaved the minds of the entire human race without remorse, most likely knowing that the aforementioned were not collaborators with the Saiyans. So in the end, Baby is a villain in my book
We Super Saiyans are in a league of our own.

An interesting character and a thought-provoking thread.

But yeah, I'm going to have to say he was definitely a villain. His hatred for Saiyans may be understandable, but going out of his way to completely eradicate them all shows evil.
The blonde girl with the black lips turned to Valkyrie.
"We know," she said. "We've seen the future. We know you're going to kill the world..."

Release it Gohan! Release everything! Remember all the pain he's caused... The people he's hurt... NOW MAKE THAT YOUR POWER!!!!

This is a matter of whether or not you think the end justifies the means.

However, Babi was punishing Saiyans, humans, and other alien races that had never done anything to him, so that makes him evil.

I felt one of Bebi's most defining trait was his disgust towards the barbaric Saiyan's fighting nature. Its somewhat depicts his more sophisticated inside view, though his fight with SSJ4 Goku & at various other occasions seem to show that equally loves fighting as well.

He was utilized well as a villian, but honestly, not one in millions to Frieza, Cell or Boo.

I like him, but as I've mentioned, those 3 "main bosses" are classics.

Nothing will ever be better than the 3 bosses. And hell the first two are 10x better than the third one imo

in babys history the saiyans are the ones that are evil.

Its a circle of violence. You reap what you sow, and since goku and vegeta were the last ones left? take em over or kill em.

Its really a revenge story that went to far. Sometimes in asian based stories the one seeking revenge usually realized what theyve done is wrong, and usually die trying to fix it.

baby was an artificial construct made from pure hate. No redemption for him.

So he dies, and with good reason, he destroyed our planet. so ***** him.

Bebi's actions could be viewed as justice for what the Saiyans did to his people, but at the same time Goku, Trunks, Gohan, Goten, and everyone else, while Saiyans, are innocent of their ancestor's actions. If he were a true herald of justice, Bebi would understand they're innocent. Bebi took things to a new level though when he enslaved the entire human race and attempted to restore the Tuffles as a people. He stole peoples lives and wasn't against using sinister methods to accomplish his goal. He is a villain. I will however say that the only person he could've rightly put justice to was Vegeta, who was a part of that era where Saiyans murdered for coin. Although he wasn't alive when the Tuffles were destroyed by the Saiyans...[atleast I don't think].

Bebi's ambitions are mostly selfish, not executed out of a true sense of morality or justice. He reminds me somewhat of Hitler.

He hated the Saiyans, but he also sought to spread/recreate his race across the galaxy in order to rule it, so that's kind of evil, ya know?
