I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

"Any time someone loses their life it's a tragedy. It's a senseless tragedy," said Kentucky State Police Trooper Greg Dukes.

A tragedy that struck close to home for many today in Scottsville and Allen County after 22-year-old Chelsey Mahaney was murdered.

A Scottsville man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed Mahaney to death.

Kentucky State Police say 34-year-old Charles M. Copass of Scottsville turned himself into the Scottsville Police Department around 4 o'clock Tuesday morning, and Copass is charged with her murder.

Police say they found Mahaney's body at 441 Barren River Dam Road in Allen County Monday night.

Kentucky State Police is handling the investigation.

They say Copass and Mahaney were acquaintances, but are not sure of a motive.

"We don't know why people do the things that they do, but when the officers show up on scene like this, we have to put our personal feelings aside. It's a job. We have to make sure we do the best job we can to make sure the victim has a voice," said Dukes.

The Kentucky Medical Examiner's office in Louisville is performing an autopsy on Mahaney's body.

It's a loss felt across the community today.

"It's an extremely sad day for our school family to hear of the passing of Chelsey. Of course when Chelsey was here, I was here while she was for all four years. She started for our girls basketball team for two or three years. She was very fun loving and enjoyed having a good time, one of the more popular kids in our school," said Allen County-Scottsville High School Principal Brian Carter.

Friends close to Mahaney say she was about four months pregnant.

Copass, currently, is in the Allen County Jail.

This incident took place a few days ago. Chelsey was a fantastic person who I went to school with and worked with for 2 years in high school. The town we're from has a population of around 4,000 people (small) so everyone knew her too.

The only real reason I'm posting this, is because I want people here and anywhere to understand that people around us and even ourselves aren't guarantee to always be there/here. I joked with Chlesey all the time, we would make fun of our bosses and chill on breaks and stuff and it's hard to react to something like this. When I heard about it, I didn't believe it. It tool a few days for it to even really sink in, which is where I am now.

Anyway, doubt this means much to anyone but maybe you got something out of reading my monologue.

That's incredibly saddening to hear. It's always a shock finding out someone you knew died I can't even imagined how it feels finding out they were murdered. Hopefully the person who did this gets their just desserts.

Wow just read the part about her possibly being pregnant. That's just not right how do you do that to a pregnant women? Hope you can get through this tough time.
