1. Because gaps are not consistent Alright, lets look at Dodoria vs Vegeta. We know that Vegeta outclassed Dodoria heavily, and we know that Dodoria must have been stronger than Cui and weaker than Vegeta. Going by thousands, these would be the gaps we would get: 19,000: 1.26x gap [Vegeta is 1.26x Dodoria] 20,000: 1.2x gap [Vegeta is 1.2x Dodoria] 21,000: 1.14x gap 22,000: 1.09x gap 23,000: 1.04x gap Choosing whatever power level you use for Dodoria, those gaps would be whatever gap is necessary to stomp an opponent. Chapter: 258 (DBZ 64), P1.1 Vegeta: “I killed Dodoria!! Dodoria, so proud of his tremendous strength!! And it was easy!! Heh… My new abilities surprise even me… The battle on Earth wasn’t a waste at all.” Vegeta was far more surprised he killed Dodoria than he did kill Cui. He regarded Cui as trash, yet said Dodoria had tremendous strength. This would mean Dodoria would have to be well far above Cui, putting the 'stomping gap' somewhere between 1.14x and 1.04x of the opponent's power. Now, comparing this gap with other fights, you can see why it is inconsistent. 2. Because it's mostly opinion Things like the gap it takes to stomp a character, multipliers for attacks and transformations, and increaes made from training are not stated in the show; they're subjective, only up to the fan's interpretation. As a matter of fact, the only thing that matters in a power level list is that you have one person's power level lower or higher than another's depending on statements or fights seen. Having Gohan-Boo at a power level of 700,000,000, and than having SSj Vegetto at a power level of 701,000,000 could be valid because it still has Vegetto stronger than Gohan-Boo, and because gaps are inconsistent. Now, another thing that shows where characters are in relation to one another, of course, would be: Gotenks-Boo << Gohan-Boo <<<< SSj Vegetto This is a simplified 'power level list', which IMO, is much better. Why? Because you only have to take feats and statements from DBZ and rank characters, instead of arguing inconsistent, unprovable things like tanking gaps and multipliers. 3. Because Toriyama Didn't Have Power Levels in Mind Toriyama decided to not use power levels, and it could have been for any reason; because the numbers were getting too big, because he thought fans were obsessing over them too much, et cetera... The important part is that you can't make a truly 'perfect' power level list because Akira Toriyama himself, the creator of Dragon Ball, didn't have a power level list in mind, and he didn't create one. The perfect power level list doesn't exist because power levels do not exist after Freeza. And that is why I will never make another power level list again. |

I stopped even trying to use power levels when I kept ending up with base Kid Trunks multiple times stronger than Android 18 (Which would make her easy 1 shot material even with Trunks in that costume). I just go by power chains myself now. Edit: I'll also sometimes make miniature power rankings when I need to use maths to work something out. Like this: Goku: 100 Gohan: 140 Vegeta: 70 |

I like to use miniature numbers and power chains now. Power levels themselves aren't very interesting to me anymore, and just seem like a bunch of random numbers, regardless of the amount of logic and thought put into them. |

^ Power Chains, and minimal calculations are the way to go. Numbers have ultimately become useless to me. Thing like ''Vegeta is 60% more powerful than XXX'' is just dumb to me. |

Power levels are pretty good untill Freeza saga is over as you said. From Cell saga onwards there's no certain way to know where the power levels are, all we can be sure for certain are gaps and so on, still, some people have fun reading the manga and writing along anotations for these things, I can't be the only one who does that. I've thought of doing a comparative PL list for Cell saga before, it doesn't sound bad at all. |

I love how Mr. No Name Too Scared To Post Himself took my signature move of disliking every post. What an absolute poser. Power levels are incredible. They should be used in every debate, especially mine. |

I saw it before he edited it. You do do the numbers good. Plus, your sig/avatar are godlike. Literally. From one Father to another. |

Hey, there are people that put MoDB to shame. Spopovich at 150 Million? I guess Yamcha is at just over 2 billion in the Boo Saga. |

Brotherhood was beast. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite watch it all on NetFlix... On the bright side, I'm currently in the middle of Baccano![/offtopic] I'll only add that Dodoria didn't have to be much stronger than Kiwi; aside from Dodoria being strong enough on his own; he'd always be with Freeza and/or Zarbon. Kiwi = 18 000 Vegeta = 24 000 Kiwi <<(is edged out by) Dodoria <<<(is at a clear disadvantage at) Vegeta Zarbon 1 << (is edged out by) Vegeta [inserts bp in a bp hate topic :)] Dodoria: 20 000 Zarbon: 22 000 [/shillyshally] |
