The "instant transmission is the speed of light" quote comes only from the English dub of the anime. Not in the original, or the manga. Not sure if the same line is in either version of Kai. The manga only refers to it as teleportation, or "instantaneous movement" in the direct translation of the Japanese. Edited by Selsiuss, Jun 13 2012, 09:22 PM.

No. DBZ Vol.12, pg.126-127 Trunks: "You were meant to defeat him, but for some reason there was a time discrepancy, and you couldn't. So I had to interfere." Goku: "Yeah... His spaceship was faster and he was beating me here. I was planning to clobber him for good this time, but you came along..." Trunks: "You still had three hours until your arrival. You couldn't have made it." Goku: "Well...maybe, but...I learned a new skill." Trunks: "A new skill...?" Goku: "Yeah...what they call teleportation." |

That's fine. He could still turn 3 hours in a spaceship into a few minutes so I'd say it's close to the speed of light. |

It's instantaneous, not light speed. Anything suggesting otherwise is anime filler. |

he could travel anywhere in the universe in just a few seconds (3, according to the anime). one side of the universe to the other in 3 seconds is not light speed, it's instant. |

list of canon sources: the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga. list of non canon sources: everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality. for those that blindly follow word of god | |
