Is Mystic Gohan a failure in your eyes?

I was rereading some of the Mystic Gohan stuff in the Boo Saga, and then I realized that he really didn't amount to much.

He owned Super Boo for a while, then was owned by Bootenks, and subsequently absorbed.

Not to mention he came back as a cocky fool because of his insane powerup.

Thoughts?

Depends what you mean. He failed at what he was intending to do that's for sure. But as a character I think he was pretty good.

Gohan seems to fair better under Goku's guidance during fights like how Goku told him to release his power during his fight with Bojack and coached him through the kamehameha struggle with Cell. When he doesn't have this guidance and the enemy gets the upperhand like in the fight with Bootenks, Gohan seems to lose confidence in his abilities and loses.

Id say yes. But to be fair he was facing uber powerful enemies. And for the story, had to be downplayed often as he was an inconvient plot device later.

The moment when he annihilates Buu with a few blows is brilliant but later he is taxed with facing Buutenks and is way out of his league. He tried to play it smart in that fight but Buutenks was way above his abilties.

Grrr, that ridiculous moment when Goku throws him the Pottara earing and somehow, he misses it, how the...??????!!!!!!!

Ive seen the movie where he takes on Hirudegarn, and didnt agree with the way he is disposed of easier than SS2 Vegeta, and an SS3 Goku is able to stand a better chance. Way out of line.

Gohan should have been the baddest guy on the planet, but then again he didnt have that hunger for combat like Goku and Vegeta. I defintly think he should have maintained his power after, rather than it just faded away after it fulfils its small use against Buu.
Then again i like the idea that he starts from scratch and builds up his strength again with SS, SS2 and evolving into his own natural SS3 state.

As far as character development goes, I'll say yes.

In terms of storyline, no.

Personally, I love his transformation (got his power stolen by Spopovich, puts up sorta rusty fight with Dabura, & got blasted away by Fat Boo), to an ass-kicker.

On the other hand, I feel his deserved better rather than bein absorbed like nothin. As a matter of fact, that alon with Buutenks trashin on Gohan really made me felt sorry for him...

Novacane for the pain

I don't think he could really be judged as anything else. He came to beat the villain and only amounted to making said villain stronger.

He was definitely a failure IMO. He was cocky during the battle like an idiot and got everybody, including himself, absorbed because of it. All he had to do was blast Boo with a good Super Kamehameha and things would've been better for everyone.

no, this about sums it up.

One of the reasons that dumb Goku> gohan thread lasted so long.

Whenever Gohan has the upper hand he likes to drag fights out and make his opponents suffer but it gets people killed :/. If Future Trunks had Gohan's power he wouldn't play around, he'd get stuff done.

That's why I like Future Trunks over Gohan.

Mystic Gohan cannot count as a failure. He was the strongest individual character in the series. His fight with Buutenks was not fair, since Buutenks
was the fusion of two other fusions-Super Buu and Gotenks.Against Super Buu,he was as serious as he could be,in contrast to SSJ3 Gotenks. And
Buutenks tricked everyone, not just Gohan.Gohan could not have seen this coming.

If he was serious about killing Super Boo, he would've done it on arrival.

He wasted too much time punching him and trying to prove a point. Gohan failed.

Maybe their difference was big enough for a stomp, but not for an one shot

A full power one shot yes.

Anybody who can stomp, can pull off a full power one shot.

I'm no referring to something like when Dabura one shots Kabitio.

I'm referring to Gohan SSJ2 One shotting Cell with his kamehameha. He was at Max power.

Or anything like that.

And I don't want to get into a debate about SSJ2 Gohan and Cell. I was using that as a base example, you get the idea.
