It's been on my mind to try to make a more direct translation of the DB manga. Viz did a great job, but they "adapted" it by changing much of the original for an English-speaking audience. I would like to give Dragon Ball fans a more authentic reading with a direct translation. If anyone reading this is fluent in Japanese, and/or a reliable translator, would you be interested in helping? My premise is this: My translator would give me the direct translation, and I will replace the dialogue bubbles of the original manga with the new translation, as shown in my concept picture here: Spoiler: click to toggle Anybody interested? |

Well i had in mind to do this thing for kanzenban, but it would take realy long to translate it and above all realy no point. Viz has mistakes in translating, but Herms corrected them. But it would be nice if someone actuly translate kanzenban editions for new dbz fans. |

Herms didn't correct all of them, only the ones that stood out to him, and he stopped after a few chapters because of the daunting task. And by the way is this the Kanzenban you're talking about? |

Hasn't Herms pretty much directly translated nigh every significant Japanese manga or guidebook line that we need to know to compare characters' strength to each other? Not that I'm saying this shouldn't be sought after, but Herms has more or less translated at least 40-60% of important Japanese Dragon Ball text. |

Question about Herms' strength checker page: Are the strength statements taken from the Viz manga, or direct translations from the original Japanese? |
