Breathing in space...manga plothole?

So here Toriyama draws Bardock in space, and he's very much alive.

Would Goku not being able to breathe in space be a plothole?

Maybe Saiyans can be trained to breath in space.

It was said that "Freeza could survive in space", meaning that Goku would die in space.

Saiyan, can't survive in space because you need to breath, because you take death rays in your head (usually stopped by the Earth's atmosphere), because of the lack of pressure (your body exploding like a potato chips bag you take with you in the mountains), because it's damn cold.

A human would die in like 30 seconds. But we're weak. I'm quite sure Bardock can resist these problems for several minutes.

i have to agree, drawing the saiyans in space or within atmosphere shows us they are not us, but more powerful.

all of the saiyans could fly for starters. all of them knew about using energy. They all knew they can transform.

i would say that badock was closer to the planet than freeza, who essentially stood there with his ship and took the brunt of the explosion.

It might be something he(AT) didnt consider, especially since he (bardock)rose up to meet freeza in battle. But then again the filler ep with vegeta and nappa destroying the one planet.....

I remember that filler well. The one with those huge grasshopper monster things that get god stomped by Nappa and Vegeta.

But in the end, I guess it's just filler, right?

well i always thought all saiyans could breath in space, and that goku just didnt know that, thats just my opinion.
Saiyan are capable of doing the most crazy things, so breathing in space should not be such a big deal for them i guess.

Aren't Krillin, Gohan, and Piccolo all shown to be able to breathe in space as well in World's Strongest?

I like the King Kai anime explanation best for why Goku and Krillin can't be wished back to blown up Namek. They simply can't survive or navigate the endless void and emptiness of space without a ship or planet ready.

Like i already sad, they cant survive in space for hours. Only short time or couple of minutes.

Unless you say that panel with Bardock and Friezas army is manga plothole.

It looks identical to the scene from the anime special, so maybe Toriyama just drew it how it was.

The thing is that we don't know all the details. This is all speculation but the argument can be made that Saiyan were taught and trained to be able to breathe in space for a period of time. It could also be that the ozone layer that lets Saiyans and Humans alike breath a different on Planet Vegeta. it's possible since Vegeta was much bigger than Earth that the layer is not only bigger but extends beyond just the height we know. Maybe it's the outer most layer so you can in fact be in or out of the field of gravity and still able to breath.

As for the Nappa/Vegeta filler. He could've totally blown it up and gotten away in the spaceships before it exploded like Goku. I mean not all fillers have to be so inaccurate

Hey, I just noticed.

Manga Bardock doesn't have a visible tail. He's not a Saiyan at all, that's why he can breathe in space. He's an alien!

Warned for hotlinking images.

His tail is probably in diffrent position and not around his waist. Maybe someone from of Friezas army pulled his tail xD

That's why the mighty Bardock was unable to stop Freeza.

Because someone pulled his tail.

Probably xD

Btw is Bardock ever mentioned in manga by someone beside Frieza ? I remember Raditz talking about Goku looking same like his father ( Bardock ).
