Somewhat stronger. Piccolo said they were close in powers. SSJ3 Gotenks>=Super Buu.

He was proven to be of equal power to super buu but it didnt mean he could kill him. No where in the manga is there somewhere goku wasnt worried about using gotenks, except for when he turned SSJ3, but even then when they disappeared Goku automatically had assumed gotenks lost. Wasnt very surprised either. Having gotenks eat super buu or super buu eat gotenks is just a matter of opinion. In fact, neither one could one up the other, and gotenks was serious enough to know he would die if he didnt go all out. ripping a hole in the rosat dimension proved they were on the same level. But the move buu pulled has already proven he could beat gotenks, and did. So just accept it, Buu DID beat gotenks, and as a matter of fact would have killed him if not for vegetto.

So... huh? he lost buutenks power after the boys defused. he then ate gohan and took his power. But it was implied from the jump that Gohan >> buu no short supply on statements supporting that belief. There is NO statement except gokus small amount of wonder on how gotenks would do, and then was nonplussed when he assumed he was dead. Nothing except gotenks actions prove he was even on super buus level. No reason to assume h is stronger when its clear super buu doesnt have issues with him. Plus buu never took him serious until he met gohan. Buu cared less about gotenks and thought him annoying. Gohan and vegetto were the only two he took serious. I never implied gotenks wasnt on his level, im outright STATING that gotenks couldnt kill buu, and wasnt more than an annoyance for buu from beginning to end. It was full of gag scenes to the point where they were having characters point it out. No i didnt miss anything...ive just come to the conclusion that gotenks had no chance of actually beating Super buu without outsmarting him, and with the fusions time limit and gotenks inability to kill Buu? then he easily kills them, and he did. First he outsmarted and absorbed them as Super buu, IN ORDER TO FIGHT GOHAN, and then killed them as Kid buu. so no, gotenks is NOT stronger than Buu.

Your argument is a double edged blade. By the way, Goku thought Gotenks could beat Boo without using Super Saiyan 3. SSJ3 was overkill for Boo, IMO. Chapter: 493 (DBZ 299), P12.2-4 Kaioshin: “In-incredible…S-so this is Fusion?...” Goku: “N-no…That’s Fusion, no doubt about it, but…Thi-this is Super Saiyan 3…! Un-unbelievable…Those rotten little brats…They al-already became Super Saiyan 3, and that took me years to finally manage it…Am-amazin’…haha…amazin’…!” Note: So it seems that Goku never planned on Gotenks reaching Super Saiyan 3, but still thought he’d be able to defeat Boo (or at least that it was worth a shot). Chapter: 495 (DBZ 301), P13.3- Context: as Gotenks beats up on Boo Goku: “Amazin’, amazin’! At this rate, Gohan ain’t gonna get a turn!” Kaioshin: “Oh!” Goku even thought Gohan wasn't even going to get in on the fun, and he was watching the entire thing. At the most gotenks proved he could hang with super buu, this power logic chain you are trying to create with gotenks stronger than buu doesnt work. Buu outsmarted gotenks as he couldnt get a leg up on him. So he ate him. gotenks couldnt get any kind of leg up for more than a second. His SSj3 was just strong enough to keep him alive. But in the end buu still won. as stated, gohan is definitively stronger than super buu, having gotenks stronger than buu with no statement or proof, is just personal opinion and/or bias. But I don't have personal bias against anyone. If anything, I dislike Gotenks (a lot) because he made everything a joke, and made Piccolo look like a clown.
