I am actually so proud of this piece, considering it only took about half an hour, and most of that was trying to find the right font. Trying to go for a different style this time, so let me know how I did xD

^ That's one way of doing it haha.

And uoaaahh look how much a border can add to an already cool looking sig. It looks fantastic now! The black gives the sig some extra contrast that really helps making it pop. Definitely a cool touch.

I'm using Photoshop CS4. I've just never bothered putting a border in, so I've never learned how to do it xD

Just tried it by creating a new image with slightly larger dimensions than the signature, then moving it over and placing it in the middle. Is that right? xD

Posted Image

That's what I got
To add a border use the pencil and use the shift key so that it is straight.

I am going to have to disagree with Kris on here though. I like it without the border better or a white border. The black border sticks out too much because of its thickness. It takes away from the beauty of the background.

Ahhh... the beauty of diversity of opinions haha.

I think the border could be a little thinner too, but I like it bold like that because it picks up the black shadows of the render.

I think the boarder looks great on the sig....it's interesting how much it improved in one day.

When i made boarders i used to used some kinda box tool and start dragging from a point off of the work then onto it and then painted it black. (Yea that's a terrible description/explanation but i haven't touched photoshop in a veryyy long time)

I actually have to agree with Kris, I think the black border really polishes it. This has turned into a quick ok sig to a pretty good one by the end. I like that you took the opinions and took the steps to make it better without completely changing your concept.

I'm not sure how good it would look with a white border but like I said this last one with borders has made it look great. Try scaling the border size down to about half of what it is now and it might look better

A white border would make it look bland.

But yeah, it's amazing how much the sig has improved from the first version you posted. Congrats, Mike! You've done well, kid! hahaha

Oh wow it actually looks pretty neat! It might even be better than the other one because a) this forum has a dark layout and b) the white also picks up the light areas of the sig.

I didn't see it working in my head, but I was definitely wrong. Good job, Ana!

Haha, don't I know it. I'm pretty surprised at how much talk this has prompted. Pretty proud xD.

I tried putting on a white border and didn't like it, so didn't post it. Think I'm happy with the way it looks now xD

This is what I mentioned in the mod section about revamping the GFX section. Making questions, suggestions and interacting as much as possible is the way to go! I'm glad people are participating!

I think both versions are awesome, but for the black one I'd definitely make the border a little thinner. But eh, we're getting picky now aren't we? haha it looks great as it is already.

Did you also turn the brightness up?

The second one has a cool modern look, but I think I like the regular white/black borders better.

The silver color from the render is really neat so I was trying to highlight it the most.

I just drew a border and used the overlay feature.

I did them really quick so I didn't lower the opacity or it wouldn't be as bright.

The overlay setting is a bit dangerous when it comes to lighting though. I feel like the brightness in those versions is definitely too much.
But the style of the borders itself is awesome.

If you lower the opacity a little, it's not bad at all. I use those kind of borders for my signatures all the time.
