Did the editors screw Tien?

I read somewhere that the reason that Tien wasn't at the World Tournament in the Boo Saga is because that would imply that he'd have gone to help against Babidi, and Gohan would've been spit on instead of him, so Tien was supposed to fight Dabura.

That obviously implies that Tien > Perfect Cell or at least Tien ~ Perfect Cell. The reason that this idea was canned was because of an editorial decision.

This is all supposed to be in Daizenshuu 7, but I can't find it.

Is any of this true? Can anyone find the part (in any Daizenshuu) where it says this?

I don't know about the Daizenshuu but that wouldn't make any since because that would imply he could handle a SSJ2 Gohan in a fight.

Know, all you guys argued that SSJ Vegeta couldn't compare to SSJ2 Gohan, so I don't believe Tien to be in the SSJ2 tier. I think he might be in base saiyans tier.

Him and piccolo would make for a good fight.

I checked Herms' thread about the Daiz where he lists interesting facts and I couldn't find anything like this. Also, if it were in there Daiz 7 doesn't seem like the one it would be in. Might just be a rumour made up by one of Tien's more diehard fanboys.

Then again, someone else could find it so you never know.

According to Daizenshuu, Tien knows Kaioken, so I'm taking what they say with a grain of salt, lol.

I'll dig deeper, but if I find it, I'll report here. Seems like a great find.

When does Tien ever show that he has knowledge of Kaioken?

I have no idea, but Kaioken became useless after Frieza anyways.

It should be noted that Tien spent 260 (hope that number is right) days with King Kai, so him learning it isn't implausible.

It's plausible yes, but it was never implied he did learn it. Actually, I think it was more implied that Goku was the only one that could learn it because King Kai was so happy of Goku's progress.

If Tien had Kaioken, then so should Yamacha. Which I'm pretty sure we can agree that he didn't.

Lol if that really came out of the Daizenshuu then how trustworthy is that source?

Well, Daizenshuu should be trusted in some cases. It was approved by Toriyama, so most, if not all he signed off on, and read it. However, there are some minor inconsistencies with Daizenshuu, so that's why some fans don't trust it.

Edit: Daizenshuu had to go through Toriyama first, before publishing, I believe.

If Tien had Kaioken then, frankly he would have used it at some point. No one gets a power like that and doesn't pull it out. Especially in a situation like against the Cell Jrs where he was getting beat down.

Does it really say that though? The only source I've seen looks very very biased and unreliable so I'm not willing to trust it.

Are you talking about the Tien blogspot website?

And never mind, Daizenshuu states Goku as the only Kaioken user.

This is pretty much all I've found, but it's not much, and I don't particularly trust this website.

However, some say that he surpassed the power of a sayajin 1, because he was able to deflect an energy attack very powerful made by Super Buu after absorbing Piccolo and Gotenks level 3.Tenshinhan would be able to easily beat Pui Pui,but by some editorial reason Toriyama decided to keep Tenshinhan unknown in the montains.

Fake? Daizenshuu 7 entry on Tien

That's a blog, unless Toriyama himself wrote it then I hardly think that's a reliable source of information at all. In fact, it's a blog, quoting another article which means there is a huge element of bias. I'd agree with Copy_Ninja on this one and say that that information was manipulated somewhat by a die-hard Tien fanboy.

Yeah, I don't trust it, and the Daizenshuu 7 information derived from that blog is baseless.

There was another entry (on this forum) that said Daiz 7 had the information about Tien and the editors, but I can't find it annnnnywhere.

It is too bad that most of my beloved human characters became useless around the Trunks saga. Still it isn't too crazy to imagine Tien or any of the other humans learning Kaioken at some point. It could explain how Yamcha was able to spar with Olibu and the fighters of grand kai's world.
