I can see Netherlands getting one or two goals. Denmark might get another too but I don't think they will get anymore than two. Whereas Netherlands are getting so many shots that I can see two or threee more going in for them. |

I think Netherland's main problem was actually Van Percy. He was sloppy for the whole game. It's no wonder they couldn't score with him up front. Plus their terrible defence didn't help. |

Van Derpsie was terrible, nothing like the player that Arsenal had this season. Portugal and Germany will have a field day against that thing the Dutch are trying to pretend is a defence... |

I'm loving the Germany, Portugal game. Both teams are so in form with some stamina it's nuts. I think they might have some gitters but I think Germans are really out to attack. Portugal has got solid D |

I've enjoyed it, the lack of scores doesn't mean it hasn't been interesting. I hope they have more resolve in the second half. Portugal again, solid D. Hopefully they can grab a few scores |

This game was boring regardless of the lack of scores though Rebel. The last 20 or so minutes was good, but the first half in particular was dismal. Nani was by far the only good Portugal player on the pitch. Mario Gomez is an awful striker and Klose should probably have been introduced right after his goal, if not before because it just would have increased their chances of scoring. Germany were by far the better team all-round. Portugal have good attack but very poor defense, and even then they struggled to attack, especially Cristiano Ronaldo. He didn't feature in the game at all. |

Germany didn't play that well either from what I saw in the match. If Portugal had put those people that they did at the end, they would have won the match. I have to agree that Ronaldo doesn't do much on the field though. |

Erm, I think it was the opposite for me as I watched it. I thought Portugal had the better Defense as was playing fairly well enough but they weren't attacking enough. I thought Pepe coming out of no where with that strike was so close. I think Nani did well too but he didn't capitalize with his opportunities. I agree Ronaldo should've had more of an effect on the game than he did. It didn't seem like they were trying to use him properly. Idk if the fact that he started wide rather than forward center made a difference in his play or the teams strategy. I think Germany might've been the better team sure but not for the same reasons. They have the size but they were very clumsy with how they worked. Maybe it's the lack of experience, i'm not sure. It's gonna be an interesting group to follow. Speaking of the Group, I was thinking Netherlands were going to win but Holy crap I couldn't believe how excited I got for Denmarks win so congrats to any Denmark fans we might have. (I don't think we have any but still) |

I missed the Germany-Portugal game, expected more than 1 goal really though. Croatia vs Republic of Ireland tomorrow, not sure who will take it, think they both play quite defensive right? I'll support Ireland but I think Croatia have the better chance since I heard Ireland don't have a great goal threat. Spain will probably beat Italy quite easily seeing as Italy haven't been strong over the last year. Italy don't have much international experience, although some of their players are still experienced at club level, kind of like England really with the likes of Lescott and Parker being experienced players without that many caps. Spain has experienced international players throughout their team. Yeh I got Rebel, Becca and Luke in the league so far. Look on page 5 for anyone else who wants to join, by the 12th if they can. |

Rebel, Portugal were shocking defensively. One of their defenders is more of a winger than a defender for a start since he could attack but do nothing else. Podolski, Mueller, Ozil and Khediera were finding it very easy to slot balls between the defence and make space for an attack, and that's not good defending, Portugal were barely hanging on. In comparison, Mats Hummels of Germany was fantastic. The amount of times he blocked the ball and stopped Portugal's chances - on his own - was enough to make him my own personal man of the match. The fact that there were 3 other defenders there made Germany's defending stronger than Portgual though towards the end they seemed to be getting tired. Manuel Neuer the goalkeeper also was barely tested. Nani came close by hitting the bar but it was safely over, Pepe did hit the bar but it was dead on the line and therefore not a goal - the shot itself was good cuz Neuer couldn't get near it but that one shot, along with Varela's attempt on goal, which was indeed the only time Neuer was properly tested, don't seem to me like Portugal were particularly good offensively either. Germany did themselves no favours playing Mario Gomez up front. He's a very lazy player and got lucky with the goal they got. Had they introduced Miroslav Klose earlier or indeed from the start, Portugal would have been destroyed. Defending well against Mario Gomez isn't hard since his ability to run is poor, it's their defence against the German attacking midfield players that Portugal needed to cope with, and sure, they did but they weren't hugely effective because it looked like Portugal were aiming for a 0 - 0 draw for most of the game. It was only after the first goal they actually started playing some football but by then it was too late. |

First post in this thread woohoo!  So, as I said before in the elite chat (and I'm repeating it here 'cause not everybody can see the elite chat), I'm NOT excited at all about this Eurocup so far. I remember being on the edge of my seat with the Euro 2004, and that was possibly the last Euro I truly cared about. That said, I obviously did watch Portugal x Germany tonight and I gotta say it was a really frustrating match. Cristiano Ronaldo needs to put it together, he was more a piece of decoration than a crucial, vital part of the team on the pitch tonight. Unlike Becca, I don't think it's clear at all which team was better. Portugal did have a lot more opportunities to score than Germany, it was unfortunate that the ball didn't seem to want to get inside the goal, 'cause it did hit the goalposts a lot. But I'd say that overall Germany did earn this victory 'cause they seemed to be more consistent throughout the game, whereas Portugal was a bit shaky during the first half of the game. |

This Spain v Italy game is really heating up! 1-1 and it could go either way. Italy putting up a much better fight than I thought although I expect Spain to take it in the end. |

I never expected Italy to even get one goal. How wrong I was. They were on fire today and possibly the better team. I was routing for them all the way. |
