Wow, I new Italy was great and I expected to come out with speed and finesse but I never thought they would win. Germany wasn't ready, maybe it was the inexperience. I didn't pay much attention because I was interested but what a wow of a result. Ozils Penalty shot was nice but too late to hope for a win. Upset in my mind but then again, experience won it I think just looking at the teams. Spain vs Italy Can't wait for this game. Euros coming to an end fast. Not sure if we have any Italian fans (oh wait Punxx) but Congrats. Time to Party in Rome!

It should be amazing considering the last time they faced off it ended in a Draw in early June in the Group stages. |

Don't usually support Italy because they go a bit too far with the shirt pulling etc but I want to see Ballotelli do well again. If he has a good game then I don't mind which way it goes. |

I hope Italy were watching Portugal the other night because that is how you play Spain. Don't go for all this containment/counter-attack stuff where you let them have the ball, pressure them every second you have it and then bomb forward. If Portugal had better service (from someone like Pirlo) and a better finish (Balotelli) they would have won. |

You are taking Spain too lightly already Copy. Yes, Portugal came out with a great plan and did well with it. However, did you forget that Spain has different players that they can utilize to change their attack? We also tried something different by putting Negredo in. In the extra time period, Spain had put in Pedro and Navas who were more direct with their attack. They changed the pace of the game and then all of a sudden Spain were getting much more chances. I just don't know why Del Bosque waited too long. Spain can play possessive, but when they want, they can also go full out attack and play as direct as people want them to be. It's why they are so dangerous. If we put someone like Torres in, they will be more direct with their passes. Spain has the cards in their deck they just have to play it right. If we want an aerial threat, we can put Llorente in. I don't know how Spain is going to approach this game, but they can certainly make it tough as hell for Italy to compete with with the bench they have. Edited by Pookie, Jun 29 2012, 04:19 AM.

Too often, Spain's default setting is possession football though. It's definitely what they are most likely to play, changing their system to rely on someone as inconsistent as Torres would be too risky imo. They need to dominate the middle against Italy because if they allow Pirlo to boss the game like he did against both England and Germany they are in big trouble. Spain honestly haven't impressed me all that much throughout the tournament, when compared to previous showings at tournaments. I honestly think that the game will swing on whether Italy are capable of countering Spain's style because it is a lot easier said than done. |

Del Bosque showed that he is willing to change up the pace if that is what it takes. Pirlo will have a lot to handle himself with Xabi Alonso, Xavi, and Busquets. He will have to defend and attack with them in the match. Italy has history against Spain and that's what worries me. We have never beaten them in a competitive match ever. I'm hoping history can change in this match. Torres is risky, but so was Balotelli. Torres can be a game changer and I think he is hungry for a chance. I saw his face against Portugal and he wants it. Spain will come out playing possessive, but they can always change the pace of the game with the players they have. Also, you can't keep high intensity like Portugal tried to do. The players end up getting tired and that can be a downfall. The Italian players aren't exactly young either.
