I'm not sure why they didn't let Ronaldo take a penalty kick. I know they were saving their best player for last, but I feel the best players should go first so that other people don't feel as much pressure.
You might be right but I think some people see it the other way around though. I mean when you have a players that's used to the pressure and used to living up to the talent he is then you want everything on the line in his hands rather than anyone else. I think at that point in the PK shots since Portugal went first, their was nothing they could do. Had Portugal went first and missed they could have changed the order but no guarantees what's done is done. Twas a good match imo, just got so frustrating between the brilliant teams. I do hope Spain wins because they'll be the first to go to 3 consecutive international tournaments AND WIN!

I honestly didn't find this match that exciting to be honest. To begin with there wasn't many shots on goal during the match and those things are what usually brings the excitement to see if your team scores or if the other doesn't score. And what annoyed me the most was the constant players on the ground, from both teams not just saying one, both of them I had been hoping for a more exciting match and one without so many players constantly on the ground.

I thought it was exciting because it was even for a long time.
Spain is known for playing within a specific style and their game was completely obstructed by the tactis of the portuguese team. That's what not many people were expecting to happen and it made the match swing from one team to the other without a concrete notion of who would end up on top.

I think everybody was on the edge of their seats for a long time precisely because of that, at least the fans of the 2 teams were.

I made it home in time to see the penalty shoot out.

When Xabi's got saved I was like.. OH NOES

Then Casillas came in and was like GTFO Moutinho!

Then Bruno Alves was coming on and Nani comes out to replace him? WASSUP WIT THAT?!

I think Nani felt that Bruno Alves wasn't ready for it.
And he truly wasn't, you could see it in his face, he was doubting himself a lot.
Cristiano should have shot that penalty instead of him, but they wanted him to go last to be the star of the penalties and possibly save Portugal.

Obviously that didn't work out very well for Portugal.

But yeah, even the penalties were insane. Spain starts failing one of the penalites and then Portugal follows suit. I was having multiple heart attacks at once watching the penalties. :p

Sergio Ramos is a cheeky bastard, love it. I have increased respect for him.

Pedro and Navas are also beasts. Glad I put them in my fantasy team now :{| <--- Del Bosque smilie.

Yeah, I agree.
Nani had good intentions but I think they backfired.

They should just not have let Bruno Alvez take the penalty right after. It's all well and good Nani saving him once but if he went right after they might as well not have switched lol. Just get one of the other guys to step up til he calms down a bit. Let Rui Patricio take it >_>

Rui Patricio is terrible with his feet xD That would have been interesting to watch.
I was actually quite apprehensive about Rui Patricio last night because he kept throwing the ball with his feet with spanish attackers nearby. There were at least a couple of risky moments when he did that.

Now that it's all said and done. I still wonder why they didn't put in Llorente in. I think even in the extra time his fresh legs would've been superb, I think he has great dynamic with Silva and Navas who both played well imo.

Also, I feel bad for Fernando Torres, he's really been on a bit of a slump from Chelsea. Managed to get a few goals in the group stage but since then hasn't really had any big shots opportunity. Lots of talk of him being for sale and wanting to move to another club but who knows. I hope he gets to play in the finals but then again I hope he improves enough to do so.

It's funny, I completely forgot about the fantasy league we had. I haven't changed my players since the group stages and somehow I'm still in 1st right now. dafuq? I'm sure that'll change once the semi finals are over

What a goal by Ballotelli!

Didn't think it was gonna go in, right in the top corner. Celebration was funny stuff.

edit: Mark Lawrenson's commentary was quite funny too

edit: LOL "It's Buffon who's letting everyone around the world know its his ball". Brilliant.

I want to apologize to the Italian fans here for underestimating so much. I am eating my words. They definitely brought their A game to this game. I can't explain why Italy always manages to be a threat even though on paper they have no chance. Regardless, if they win this game, they deserve it.

My heart goes out to the German fans.

I've seen lesser teams against better teams come back from higher scores. We'll have to wait for another 45 minutes before we can really tell who's gonna win. Kudos to Italy though. They are all over Germany at the moment. If they play like this against Spain then there might be new European champions.
