Italy will play without Chiellini tomorow. I think overall, even with the red carded D man, Italy is better on defense then England, Italys forwards are good but not amazing, Even though Englands best forwards are old I still think theyre more talented than Italys best. All these old English players need to do is tough it out for 3 more games, if they intend on winning the, and its happened in sports where old teams have outclassed younger teams. Italy has a well balanced team, if they can only play as a team, instead of playing like a time bomb they could do something good! |

Woohoo I'm so happy Spain won. I can't wait for the game against Portugal. It should be a fun match. However, when Spain and France were playing Spain didn't seem too worried about the French attack. The defense got the job done for those of you who said they were sloppy. The fact that Spain can play without a striker and still win is pretty amazing. As soon as they put pedro and torres in, it was a whole different pace game. They have different tactics they can use which makes them versatile. I'm not saying they are invincible by any means because i was super worried and any team can beat any team at any time. However, they are going to be hard to beat. I will once again be worried when we play against Portugal. Also, friendly matches are nothing to boast about. Spain lost to England 1-0 in a friendly match. Spain lost to Portugal in a friendly match 4-0 too. It doesn't mean that they are going to get butchered by Portugal. They are just friendly matches. Sweden is no slouch of a team. They almost beat England so losing to Sweden is nothing bad. They have some strong players especially Ibrahimovic. As for England and Italy, I am counting on it on being a very defensive match up. I think it's going to be all counter attacks. Whoever puts in their chance in first will win the match. Edited by Pookie, Jun 23 2012, 11:40 PM.

To be fair, England can only play counter-attacking football at this time. Against Sweden we only won because as soon as we got a chance to try and come back from a goal down we took it. I mean we were throwing substitutes on like no tomorrow trying to reduce their chance of beating us again and at least 8 of our players at a time have to keep playing defensive football in our own half. Against Ukraine our best player was probably John Terry. John *****ing Terry. He fouled a few people, kicked a ball that was clearly in the net, out of the net when it should have been a goal and was also playing miles out of position, somewhere in centre midfield where Steven Gerrard was supposed to be playing. He was doing everything in that game. Definition of real-life FIFA hax. |

I can't see England winning this game the way they've been playing, but I've been saying that about every match so far that they've survived. I think their downfall though will be their predictability. They're most likely going to come out with a 442 and play counter attacking as Viddy said trying to pace down the wings and cross to Rooney and Welbeck(for another deflection goal :P). That being said I think Italy will approach this match the same way they did against Ireland. |

Looks like the better team won. A lot closer than I expected though. I never thought it would go to penalties. |

Well deserved win for Italy. England just didn't perform. Quarter final was about where they belonged. I can't see Italy beating Germany. Unless maybe Ballotelli is incredible. But Germany has way better strikers and is much more organised. So it should go Germany's way on paper. |

Italy definitely deserved the win tonight. They worked really hard for it, whereas England practically gave up towards the end (before the penalties). But yeah, they will most likely lose against Germany anyway. Portugal x Spain is next! woohoo! |

Italy have good strikers, Di Natale/Balotelli/Cassano/Giovinco are all pretty good. I agree with your main sentiment though, Germany are the better team. |

The BBC played this song with a montage of the Italy vs. England game after they finished the broadcast. Its gotta be one of the most chilling football based things I've seen over a very trivial and predictable England exit. |
