IIRC there is one panel where Gotenks has sparks around him, I don't know, the anime shows it differently but the manga could be trying to imply he is making the full transformation from SSjin-SSjin2-SSjin3. Plus Son Goku went from Base to SSjin3 without even transforming to SSjin, so even if you can skip to higher forms, it doesn't mean the user wouldn't need the previous one. Be it anime or manga... Anyway, I don't think Gokule is taking SSjin2 Gotenks Post, not by a long shot. In fact, I think he would get stomped, especially with the energy drain Edited by MysticGotenks, Apr 22 2012, 07:56 PM.

It was shown very clearly for a couple panels in the manga and for quite some time in the anime. Plus, the transformation's Daizenshuu entry states Gotenks could do it. It would make no sense for him to skip transformations. This is not GT.
