Quite simple. Post artists or bands you think aren't given enough recognition in main stream music.

I'm gonna start with Mel C. Former member of the Spice Girls. She has a great voice and she writes pretty deep and meaningful music. Plus her acoustic sessions are great. Yet she's hardly even mentioned anywhere.

Well you can only really talk about those you think are underrated within a genre. Like a political hip hop group not appreciated enough by fans of political hip hop. Otherwise you can just say anybody.

In that case I'd say....

Kyza Smirnoff is pretty underrated it seems. I'd place him as being better than Klashnekoff yet apparently not.

Pretty much just forced that....

edit: Also Rhyme Asylum as a lyrical hip hop group. Thematically no problem with people not liking them but their lines are formidable.

Mark Crilley, manga artist & writer, he does a lot of insane stuff like random line drawings where instead of starting somewhere like the head and moving down, he does one line then moves to a random spot on the page and makes insane pictures. He also does photo realistic art too.

Yeah when I said artist, I meant musical arts. Hence why this thread is under the music section.

RED. I don't know many people who think of them as more than "another Christian band." Actually, I only know one person who doesn't think that.

Craig David is tremendously underrated. He made a great record when he first became famous but then he just kinda disappeared which is a shame cuz he's a great singer and still is.

There are a lot of people really that I feel aren't rated as highly as they should be really. Unfortunately douches like Justin Bieber who are popular with a certain demographic overtake properly talented people in terms of fame.

MAGICAL GIRLS REPRESENT

Hmm. I must say, after mulling it over I'd have to say first that comes to mind would probably have to be Fountains of Wayne.

They had one big smash hit ("Stacy's Mom") that was everywhere in 2003. Maybe had another song on TV ("Hey Julie"), but then they disappeared right?

Not really. They've had a good few albums before, and have released several albums after. They're still going strong actually. The album Welcome Interstate Managers was itself a power pop classic, if such a thing exists. They write smart hooks, have that bittersweet lyricism that attracts me so... it's a fine album, from open to close.

The song that got me. It opened the album
