Bleach Could Of Been The Best

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

Bleach really gets on my nerves, the reason is because it has the BEST single arc of any manga that i've ever read. The Soul Society Arc was so much win. The moments from that arc are better than anything I can think of in One Piece, DBZ, Naruto, etc.... Unfortunately every arc that followed it was mediocre at best. There were some awesome fights/art after the initial SS arc, but the plot just got dull, maybe he just set the standards so high?

I truly believe that if the following arcs were on par with the first 2 then it would go down as one of the best 5 anime/manga of ALL time, now it might make it into the top 30 if it's lucky.

Does anyone agree?

On what episode did the Soul Society Arc begin? I stopped shortly after the first season because it just didn't interest me as much as Naruto, and I can only really handle one big anime.

It ended after Ichigo (SPOILER) saved Rukia from SS and Aizen showed his true intentions (around episode 55 I guess). Some of the battles were good after that but the plot seemed to implode.

It definitely was not one of the greatest mangas of all time. I lol'd at that.

But I agree that is definitely one of the most popular right now.

Sparking!

Sorry, just nit-picking: 'could have' not 'could of'.

I still think Berserk is far superior to Bleach :p The first few arcs of Bleach are very good though, definitely contributes to why it is so popular, it sucks people in, gets them addicted to the main characters. Unfortunately way too many minor characters were introduced afterwards, it just diluted the story and made the complications/villains very basic and predictable. Kubo was not a good enough writer to pull it off.

It seems like the latest chapters after Aizen was defeated are just a glorified explanation of poorly established mythos while simultaneously complicating the story even further.

That makes more sense, Havoc. I would agree that it is one of the best shonen mangas out there now. I still don't think it's better than One Piece or Naruto, though, but it's definitely up there.

I would assume that the arc began following these events:

Spoiler: click to toggle

It'd probably start there.

I just wonder if he set his own standards too high with the first arc or if we're just expecting too much? Maybe both?

I agree, Cal. The Soul Society Arc was awesome. Enough backstory was given to minor characters to make them seem believeable enough, and the quirkiness of some was what made them likeable.

Then, as the Arrancar arc began to drag on, I started growing a bit weary of Bleach. The endless fights and the lack of character development started to wear on, and by the end of the FKT Arc, I just want it to end.

I only read Bleach out of habit, now.
