That's basically how I feel. "Hate crimes" are pretty skewed. You hardly ever hear of one against a white person, and if you do, the assailant's behavior is blamed on their environment or being oppressed somehow. |

I don't think hate crimes are "skewed" maybe your exposure to crimes involving hate crimes has been skewed (the media likes to do that). As long as it can be proven that a crime was committed with prejudice it can be tried as a hate crime (i'm not sure if all states have hate crime laws........actually it might be a federal law) |

I, myself am black but I don't use the n word casually or not at all for that matter because I see no point in it. It connotes to slavery and the rough past of African Americans , people of my race and I don't like that. However other black people use it amongst each other casually because they feel more comfortable using the word. I don't think I'll ever understand that so I don't know. |

I for one,have had enough of the word myself,every search and destroy lobby (Call of duty MW3) you went too there was atleast 3 guys cussing and over using the N word,some of them haven't even hit puberty yet either. Parents need to teach their children about what is good,and what's not good to say.And the media should wipe the existence of the word as well.The only place this word belongs is in a dictionary or a history book. |

i agree with what baltazor said, for the most part its a media thing, to be honest? its a fad, all of the blacks kids are doing cuz they are told to, how many actual black kids are from the "ghetto" or the "hood'? not many, and the ones that are? dont even go to school. 37 lamas it sounds to me like you have a bully problem not a black problem. Its just the kids happen to be your bullies. I also think agent g is right about hate crimes, thet are subjective, to what they are and how they are seen. Its obvious from you guys talking that you arent even aware that hate crime has a wide berth of definitions. A hate crime is a crime committed by someone on another person BASED off their skin color the other half is hating someone just because of WHo they are or how they look,(dress, talk, etc..). Saying there arent racist blacks is like saying there arent racist whites. makes no sense, knowing the truth. For you whites that run into racism and dont like it? get over it. Everyone has to. complaining about how the tables have turned in society doesnt change what is. There was a time (not long ago) when blacks DIDNt use that word. cause it was direct insult, most whites only referred to blacks as N8ggers. complaining about not being able to use a word doesnt ring true with what this conversation is becoming, a begrudging subject and complaints made against blacks. Like anyone on here can answer WHY someone is picking on you. WHy would i come on to this site, and ask KP or anyone else, WHY white people act the way they do? i could go on and on, but this ISNT a lets bash whites forum now is it? or a lets complain about every black person we know. This is turning into a flame war, and it needs to be checked. stay objective people. pretending "blacks" are the only ones cutting up in class, or the only ones on welfare is flame worth and close minded. KP: before you start talking about blacks on welfare? maybe you should check the statistics against whites and hispanics. plenty of class cut ups have gone on with their livesand become productive, and plenty of CLASS PRESIDENTS have ended up in jail, so keep your racist inspired stereotype to yourself. I don't like the use of certain words. The N word in particular I dislike due to the context and the history surrounding that word, however, if black people feel that it is just for them to reclaim that word for themselves then they should be able to. They should be able to abolish the bad feelings and history surrounding that word and replace it with their own meaning. It's the same as if homosexuals want to claim the word 'gay' or 'queer'. Gay and Queer used to mean happy, but now people just assume that it's homosexual language so why should they not be allowed to take those words back? And why can't that be the same for black members of society? |

my only answer for that? is that racism exists on both sides. So both sides demand a line to be drawn. to find a word in the middle that people find comfortable using is hard. Along with myself i also think its dumb whites cant use the variation, its not all that. But in my previous post i clearly stated that alot of non blacks and whites use the word where i live on a regular basis. Whether they want to accept it or not, nigga is an acceptable word, just not by racist whites who would RATHER use the word n*gger, and hate little young white boys even more than blacks that use it. They call them wiggers. Plenty of asians, whites, blacks, even mexicans say it. they all use the word nigga, and dont like the word n*gger. why? cause n*gger to them is an insult, just like its meant to be, for anyone being called that word. You made a good point viddy with the homosexual tie in, its so true. Homosexuals should have the right to take a word like queer and apply it. I know a few that have, doesnt seem like a self hate issue, just acceptance of slang talk. DiD you ever hear about perez hilton getting slapped by will i am for calling him a f*ggot? it goes down. im sure calling him queer wouldnt have set him off so tough, but thats not what perez called him. Taking the connotation to a whole nother level. Good point. |

I get really annoyed with the word. A lot of black people I know use the word. These people are hypocrites. The people I know personally were fighting to stop racial segregation a while back, and now, they're contributing to racial segregation by taking offense when only the other racial groups use it. I think the word should be used, but should be given it's orginal reason, just like 'gay'. |

They have that whole, they hate us, so we hate them attitude, doesnt work for me. Glad my families not like that. but then agin, were all mixed up anyways, not much room to talk. |

judge you? no, youve just subtly avoided answering direct questions, and used some scared kids bleak outlook to bait a racially sensitive subject. I was with you until you developed avoidance issues. Telling him those black kids are going to be never do wells in jail and on welfare is a stereotype..plain and simple. His point in the thread was to make a direct correlation between noisy black kids and how people normally act. Attempting to make him feel better by saying they arent going to do anything with their lives is a stereotype, simply based on what he said and the words he used to describe those kids he's having issues with. total play on his concerns considering the kids he specifically described as black and was asking questions about their behavior, in effect making a direct connection as if its normal. You acted as if its normal to just have disruptive black kids in class as opposed to kids in general. Cmon man, you trolled him and you trolled OFG. Even stated that you use the word on a daily basis with your own friends, and yet have expressed more palpable anger over NOT being able to use the word in general, when asked which context you were referring to? i got not answer. cause no, it WASNT obvious. if your friends dont care? then WHY are you tripping? its widely thought that alot of people that do use that word are ignorant in general.
