Season News and Summary: What a P.O.S. season this turned into. I mean I know that it's a tough division now with Drew Brees, Falcons and Cam Newton all being great but still. The Bucs looked very promising coming into the season as a young team and I was very prideful that a young team with these studs could def make the playoffs. I even believed in Raheem Morris (Tampa bay ex coach). However to recap this season, it went to an all time low and the efforts in bringing it to life during the season were sad. I do wish that he wasn't fired after such a bi-polar 2 seasons because when you have a young team that sort of thing happens but from maturity it can get good again. Thing is that Bucs don't seem to go out and get any big name players but they stay within their own. Also I'm still not sure if they've got a new Head coach just yet but I know they' already hired UNC coach as a special teams Coach. I believe they're looking to get head coach from Oregon and make the Bucs a more run-base offense. All that political stuff aside let's look at the actual players and people doing the work for these fat cats. Josh Freeman is def the face of the franchise now. I see no reason to hold that fact back or question it. Freeman has had a great career thus far and you can see he can progress. His yards total has increased every year but his TD INT ratio has gotten smaller. Last year, his 2nd Season 25 TD: 6 INT, that is better than most better than Average QBs. Coming off this season though, 16 TD:22INT Big change in numbers and performance. Bucs need a good scheme and a good QB coach to really make sure his growth isn't stunted. I think he could easily become a great consistent QB where 25:6, 3,400 yards is just the beginning. The running and passing game leaders have been in the league the same amount of years (2 yrs) LeGarrette Blount had a great year in '10 moving from the Titans roster to the Bucs and just becoming and outstanding addition. This year however he was plagued with some injuries and I think he had gotten exposed too. I believe the problem with his running wasn't actually him, it was the schemes and plays used that didn't favor him at all. When a 1000-yard season rookie is going into his second year you don't limit him to just 5 carries in the first opener of the season. I thought that was a big mistake that came back to haunt them the whole season. This in turn effected the passing game as well, Freeman and Mike Williams were very easy targets now. Williams managing to make the same amounth of Rec(65) as he did in his first season came short of his numbers this time around. almost a 200 yard difference. With a proper run game the passing game only gets better. I think Blount needs a good back up to change things up. Many don't believe Mike Williams is a great WR. He doesn't seem like it but I think he manages to do a great job at #1. He should def be a starter, #1 or #2 because he's better than any other WR they have. Kellen Winslow is such a beast of a man imo. He never goes down and never goes away. Best safety blanket for any QB. I don't think they need a good 2nd TE to match up with him, I think they need back ups as far as TE's. Kellen Winslow hold his own. Now that O-line is a big deal, (Jeff Faine, Davin Joseph, Donald Penn and Jeremy Trueblood) are all great players that have been given big bucks to be the best in the business. This O-Line should be the best of em all. Unfortunately, I think they're only good not great like they should be by now. Tampa Bay Defense is in 100% Rebuild mode. Many missing pieces and the things they have are just getting older. If free agency is utilized then this can be helped but if everything comes from Draft then this team won't go beyond .500 team in what's become a tough NFC South. Team Needs: CB, LB, S, RB, WR CB- Barber is getting old, and noone else is up to par with NFL starting talents. Most #1 WR's in that division will smoke em. LB-They don't really have anyone significant in the middle to run stop or zone S-Grimm needs some help back their or maybe its time he takes a backseat RB-Graham and Blount need a more shifty back. They're both power and pound type runners Wr-Mike Williams and Winslow need some heat off them. First Round Draft Prospect: Morris Claiborne (CB) |
