Season News and Summary: I can never spell I don't ever remember the Cleveland Browns or any team in Cleveland ever coming home with a championship in my time. I think they made a playoff appearance like 10 years ago, and then before that it was another 10 years. Who knows. Can't blame them though, They're all over the place and the division (Ravens, Bengals, Steelers) have all stellar teams all around. But let's just look at the team this season and see exactly what we're dealing with. An easy target to talk about this season is Peyton Hillis. What a chump, really dislike this guy. He shows his true colors this season. Even with the cover of madden and being a unique aka White RB to start and do well he had lots of on and off the field instances where he was not composed and not the person every thought he would be. Now maybe this is his off year coming off a great season so does he come back to being amazing for the Browns? People hope so but I say don't hold your breathe, to me he's one of those one and done players that had a good season. People know he's a run and pound kinda guy and he won't be making those 3rd and short yards a teams needs in crucial times. I think Chris Ogbonnaya is the answer at RB this coming season. The young man has outlasted the starters and has done well statistically too imo. Brandon Jackson when healthy provides good depth. Moving on to the more complicated position, we look at the QB's in this roster. We've got McCoy, Wallace and Thaddeus Lewis. I have never seen Lewis throw a pass, he's a nobody. If he gets playing time then maybe sometime can be said but otherwise let's stick to Wallace and McCoy. Seneca Wallace has had maybe one decent season in 08. His total career passing yards in his 9 year career are the same as Brady, Brees, and Stafford passing yards in just 1 season. He's not an answer, he's a back up relief. He should be third string in fact. So last but not least...McCoy. I think Colt McCoy is a great young QB and if he went anywhere else but to Cleveland he wouldn't be questioned about his position. I was so sad to see him go to a place where QB careers are pretty much ruined it seems. Colt McCoy is the answer and the Browns would be smart to stick with him but the talk of talks is that they're looking for someone better, a new face to super charge the team like Cam Newton did with Carolina or like Dalton did with the Bengals. I don't agree that they need to bring in a RG3 to replace McCoy. They need to put the right tools around Colt McCoy to do well. Looking at formulas to making QB's better you put support around them to make them even better. I think the browns are doing that but not quick enough. The Browns need to learn to protect their damn QB's because getting sacked 45 times plus all the hits a QB gets isn't going to help a QB. I commend McCoy to having the attitude he has when he gets on the field, the kid goes out with a broken anything and still does what he can to finish the game because he has so much commitment and passion. Browns already ruined a couple careers of passed QB's (eg:Tim Couch), I hope they don't go off and ruin this man. I hope they don't think they need to bring in an RG3 mobile guy to avoid sacks and such. Be smart Browns Brees and Manning as free agents are not coming to town! What do you think, RG3 or McCoy? Other pieces, they have to stick with a plan. Have a consistent coach, president, GM and so forth to bring stability. Greg Little is a fantastic prospect brought in and even with all the rotten drops he's done well enough to lead his team in receiving. People say he will only be a #2 but I think he can be #1. If I am wrong the Free Agency does have a few #1 type receivers that Browns could totally pick up. I hope he keeps getting the ball and getting better. Other options like Watson, Moore and Massaquoi did decent for the team. That defense is solid in many areas and most dominant in the secondary imo. CB could use a star but they have decent players and good depth. Haden at Safety is brilliant but they might need a FS. Cribs is staying a play maker so no question that the Brown finally have the players to make things happen, they need to stick with it, build chemistry and get better together. Bringing in new things, new schemes will just stunt the growth of this team. Their will come a time where the dominating Ravens and Steelers will have to hopefully rebuild a year or two in the future and I hope for the Browns sake they're ready to take advantage of what could be. 2012 should be consistent with this franchise, otherwise with a new face of the franchise they'll be set back another 10-20 years. but really, it's the Browns? If you're a browns fan, that's the only time you really care about this team. It's like a Cleveland curse. Team Needs: OT, DE, FS, CB, RB With this 4th pick any position fill would probably be great. Luck, Kalil, Blackmon or Claiborne but I think since they have so many things to invest in that should trade down and maybe get more picks. With that.... First Round Draft Prospect: Trent Richardson (RB) or Alshon Jeffery (WR) (Late First Round: Andre Branch (DE) |

I also think they should trade out of the fourth spot for more picks. They dont really have an glaring needs so it would probably be best to stock up some picks to fill the holes they do have. This is a pretty deep class imo and I think that would be best. I really doubt that would actually happen but that would probably be the smartest move for them. |
