I personally think that the original Dragon Ball doesnt get enough recognition. I love dragon Ball for the hilarious jokes and funny scenes. Not only that but The world tournament was awesome to watch. What do you guys think about the original Dragon Ball?

Yeh I prefer it. More inspiring for me, better comedy I'd say and more characters or at least a greater diversity of characters active. The fights were more technical, and I'm an adventure fan. In dbz it was more like the fights came to them.

yeah I say DB villans like tien and picollo did a good job at being villians. Goku was funny as hell. I swear goku was naked like 10 times in the entire series lol but the world martial arts tournament what made it so cool. I wsh DBZ did more world tournaments.

I couldn't agree more. When I was watching the Boo saga for the first time I was so exited when they said there will be a tournament, but then got so disappointed when everyone took off. :( at EOZ also the same.... AT, that's not fair

LOL I like the buu saga world tournament when vegeta destroyed the punching machine, and goten and trunks fight, while goku looks worried and vegeta is all happy that trunks is winning. Its something about the world tournament that made it so cool. Probably cause usually its in the time of peace, and fights are just friendly....

Dragonball is by far the best part of the series IMO. Chibi Son Goku is the best character in the series by a long shot.

Piccolo Daimao and the Crane School gang (Tsuru-sennin, Tao Pai Pai, Tenshinhan, Chaozu) were far more entertaining villains than anyone in Z.

I also enjoyed Dragonball more than Z. The constant one-upmanship in Z got predictable and boring after a while. I liked seeing techniques showcased more than big energy blasts, too. The fights in DB were a lot more technical and enthralling IMO.

DB is classic, its the orignal story. Z is a retconned continuation after all.

Agreed it was interesting seeing how goku met bulma, oolong, yamacha, picollo, tien, Master roshi, everybody. Seeing goku as an adult was a trip to see LOL but the fights was very entertaining. Goku's dumbness really made me laugh. DBZ has its moments of awesomeness and the fights were awesome too. Idk what it is about DB that made it more entertaining...

Well it's true it doesn't get enough recognition by western fans. In some ways it's the best of the trilogy (Better continuity, slightly better pacing (than DBZ), more humor, more originality, more variety of characters etc.); add to that DBZ stopped being great after the Cell Saga, and DBGT...well, we all know where I'm going with this.

One thing I really liked about the original DB were all of the awesome insert songs (at least in the Japanese version.)

It's a shame Z only had 2-3 very short ones in the entire span of the series, and GT only had a single one, which also happened to be the closing song of the arc it appeared in.

At least the fights were better. You dont need to be stronger than your enemy in order to have a chance of winning.

DB > DBZ IMO

I used to like DBZ more, but DB isn't as repetitive and the plot in DB was more interesting to me
