Alright, i'm not sure if plothole is the right word, but this seems a bit of an inconsistency. ***MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD DO NOT READ IF NOT UP TO DATE*** So, obviously we know that Nagato has the ability to resurrect people from the dead with Rinne Tensei. So, if he has this ability, why didn't he resurrect Yahiko? Even after he becomes the psychopath that is Pain, he still seemed to care for his teammate, enough to make him Deva Path and basically the strongest body. The main argument I've heard is that there is a timelimit on Rinne Tensei, which is also why he didn't bring back Jiraiya. Well, that's contradicted in Chapter 559 when Madara presumes that Nagato revived him with this jutsu: http://www.mangareader.net/naruto/559/2 Tobi also says that Nagato was supposed to use it for him, which also suggests that Nagato's Rinne Tensei isn't limited: http://www.mangareader.net/93-458-17/naruto/chapter-453.html He didn't bring back Jiraiya because Jiraiya was miles away from where they were and he was at the bottom of a lake. I really don't see why he didn't bring him back when he could have done. Thoughts, or is this just too minor that only I care?

I think that maybe after a certain point bringing someone back to life will cost the user their life and Nagato knew it would be pointless to kill himself to brig back his friend. |

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

Before he killed himself by saving everyone, he truly thought he was God and he could save the ninja world. Why would he want to bring someone back into a world he feels is insufficient for everyone?
