I looked at his Facebook post for this and one person said something a long the lines of it being as bad as flogging or an honour killing, that made me laugh because of how dumb it was.

Check the Facebook page for some laughs of how dumb some people are.

He shot something which to all intents and purposes was his, since he paid for it, it was more like a gift to her and she should be willing to give something back, not to mention that he stated that she had done this before and he warned her it would be worse next time.

This is a far better punishment than smacking your child, which happend in the past.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

That was awesome lol.

What a dick that girl sounds, they don't have to buy her things but they do how would she like it if she got nothing, I highly doubt she'd be up for getting a job and washing her own clothes all the time.

I totally support this it sent a good message. Hope she cleaned up her act.

Although it's possible that she had important stuff like homework on it but then again he probably knows about it.

EDIT holy crap lol I posted a big comment
[spoilerComment if you want to know]I totally support this. Your daughter sounds like a right diva, she needed to be taught a lesson and you did it well, you've totally humiliated her and she should no not to do it again. You warned her fair and square, you never had to fix her laptop you never even had to get her one but you used your own money to get her it but she didn't give a damn so she totally deserved it.
He isn't a bad dad and maybe she does hate him for it a little but one day she'll realise she was in the wrong.[/spoiler]

Within about 10 second there were already another 200, guess nobody will see what I said lol was hoping for a debate :(

I don't advocate using a gun to make a point. Let alone to your child.

Let alone to your child.

I think you accidentally your entire sentence.

Jokes aside, I'm not sure what that sentence means. Regarding your comment saying he shouldn't have used the gun to make a point, the laptop was, for all intents and purposes, his.

He had bought it with his own money, used even more of his money on it to download software for his daughter, and the daughter then used the same laptop to insult him. She had already done it before, and the dad warned her the punishment for it would be worse the next time, and it was worse the next time. I think it was an effective way to get the point across, instead of hitting her or something.

He didn't even use the gun infront of her, he took the thing into the yard while she was at school or away made the video and shot it, then probably put it back in her room for her to find.

The gun is irrelevent, he could have used a sledgehammer to destory the laptop, at no point does he suggest he'd use it on his child.

You're reading too much into it.

He simply could have taken it away and hid it. It's one thing to be frustrated it's another to show it over the internet. Keep personal matters personal. Even so it shows that using a gun to make a point is fine. How do you any other children he may have might see it?

I you listerned to him, you would have heard that he tried that the last time she did and said to her it would be worse next time she made a stupid rant.

She deserved it for not learning her lesson the first time.

It does seem a little over the top even if the gun or tool used to break the laptop is irrelevant. Don't get me wrong, the girl is dumb as *****. I'm very much similar to Rogue but I didn't even recieve £5 pocket money for doing dishes, taking the bins out or making my bed or changing the sheets and stuff, I was just expected to do it as part of my family, and Im absolutely fine with that. Being a student now I'm thinking "Well a little extra cash would be appreciated" but I can't pay myself for doing those chores now because I live away from home. When I was living at home and when I go back there I'm fine with doing those chores for no money because my parents provide me with support and nice things and food and shelter and thats all any child could ever expect their parents to give them. As Mike was saying, yeah I do get frustrated with my parents sometimes but there are generational differences and we are all only human. Humans don't get along all the time, and sometimes you do need to vent your frustration but bitching out your Dad when hes not done anything is wrong. In my house if my daughter did that, she would learn not to mess with her parents like that, but I don't think that going and smashing up the laptop is the best way of doing it. I mean if it was me I'd not want to see something I'd paid money for smashed up just because my child was acting rotten and letting it get the better of me. Cuz that's all I think her Dad is doing, he's stooping to an immature level in order to get her attention. I'm fairly sure she probably thinks he's psycho after that and I can't blame her even if she is a dumb ***** that needs to quit badmouthing her dad. Only problem is you can't fault that method too much as to how effective it might be, but then say for example she does stop acting like a dumbass and 30 years later she's telling her kids about how her Dad shot her laptop. That's not exactly normal to say the least.

... So that comment is meant to counter the fact I think it's over the top? Riiiight...

RPGing a laptop is just making the fact he shot it look even dumber because people are getting obsessed over how "cool" it is he used a weapon on the item in question rather than the implication it has on the kid being disciplined. Sounds like we have a few badasses on the forum*.
