Season News and Summary: 3-13 season and all signs point to the issue being a proper QB but a lot more went on with the Vikings then just a lack of a prominent passer which we will get to. In the offseason prior Vikings had finally accepted that the Legend of Favre is no more and the magic run was called Magic for a reason. The Vikings took a step back from a few years of being a dangerous team in a now tough NFC North (Bears/Packers/Lions). The quarterback position was supposed to be the newly drafted QB Christian Ponder. Many fans even outside Minnesota have mixed feelings that this guy isn't a great passer, he isn't mobile and he certainly isn't even a healthy QB to start all season long while others have said he is our future and they believe in Ponder. I'll be honest, I'm one of those that believes so this may be a little bias however I think we can all now agree that bringing in Donavan McNabb as a starter in the offseason wasn't the best idea no matter how good the relations were. He was not the answer and on the player specifically I don't think he is a starter anymore in this league. His work ethic is great but he has to now just realize that unless he gets some Magic run to the playoffs while a teams starter QB goes down or something. McNabb is no longer starter material even if he studies and even if he has that great work ethic. On Ponder however, I believe this kid is the new and will eventually lead them to a prolific playoff run. He has a lot against him even within the division. You're comparing him to guys like Cutler, Stafford and Rodgers (MVP), that's tough competition. Ponder got hurt against a ruthless Skins defense, I think anyone getting hit by Fletcher helmet while falling already is lucky to be able to see straight. He rushed for over 200 yards, I might be wrong but I see a Drew Brees sort of path for this guy right now but Vikings need to stick with him otherwise the might miss out on any trophies and rings that may come their way. Sad end for AP. I was really sad when I saw the man go down. It looked like a bad ankle but I believe reports have said it was a torn ligament in the knee so I hope after the next 6 months or so he'll be recovered and 100 percent. Not only that but I along with many others are praying he comes back as the violent dominating runner we all know. Another position in question, is WR. Is anyone able to catch beside the migraine prone Percy Harvin? He had a great season and could still be the #1 guy this coming season but can he and the TE's cover all the receiver duties a team needs? I personally don't think so. I believe an offseason grab like Vincent Jackson, Reggie Wayne or Bowe would help if they don't address it in draft. Grabbing DeSean Jackson wouldn't help, he's the same type of player that Harvin is. Last thing I think we should address is the Defense. What the heck is that crap on the other side. Yes Jared Allen is a beast and nearly broke the all time sack record in a season but did he? no. They fired a line coach which I'm not even sure how that helps but apparently it had to be done. What was worse what really the secondary. Winfield and Griffin are not good. Help in this secondary is a big necessity. With AP staying for the log haul this team has something that no other division team has, you can even argue that they have something that no other team in the NFL has...possibly the best running back in the history of the NFL. Team Needs: OT, CB, FS/SS, WR First Round Draft Prospect: Matt Kalil Possible Reach: Morris Claiborne |

Yea the AP incident was pretty bad, he is definitely the number one RB in the NFL currently. Its sad to see such a talented player injured. I hope he gets better and I hope the vikings are successful soon. I'm originally from St. croix falls, Wisconsin and half my family are viking fans and half are packer fans. |

The AP incident isn't all that surprising considering how physical he is. That and how small the lives of RB's in the NFL are. You no longer see All Down backs in the NFL like a decade ago so really applaud AP for doing that but he needs to run out of bounds more if he wants to save he's career. |

Yea he is rather physical among runiing backs but it's still hard to see a guy get injured and not be able to do what he does best. Knee injuries normally end up being career ending injuries |

I agree that they should stick with Ponder from here on! The Vikings continually bring in established QBs thinking it would help the team, but it never helps. |
