Why doesn't Kakashi use genjutsu in his fights? Other than his fight with Zabuza i don't remember him using it, especially in part two. According to the naruto data book he has a 4/5 in genjutsu and sharingan adds to that, which should put him way above the majority of ninjas but he doesn't use it. Like in his fight against Hidan/Kakuzu why didn't he attempt genjutsu? Pain (after he got backup)? Why can't he use the Sharingan to suppress the 9 tails in naruto? or control it? |

I think it's because of his fighting style. It's a lot more based on offense than illusory techniques. I have no doubt that he's very skilled in using Genjutsu but he's also very skilled in breaking Genjutsu so I'm guessing that's where he might get his 4/5 from. Regarding the control of the Kyuubi, I have a few theories; 1. The Sharingan Techniques only works on the Kyuubi itself, not when it's sealed within a Jinchuriki. 2. There's a certain Jutsu you need to use and Kakashi doesn't know it. |

I always thought that genjutsu would at least be able to create openings for Kakashi to exploit. Like against Kakuzu i think genjutsu would have been a great distraction to give Kakashi a chance to land a hit. Well sasuke has been able to suppress the 9 tails inside of Naruto that's why i wanted to know why Kakashi can't......it must be some Uchiha blood reason then. |

True, but I think past a certain point, if you're not an Uchiha, you don't use Genjutsu. There were a few Genjutsus in Shippuden, but most of them were from an Uchiha. I agree though, Genjutsu would've helped Kakashi immensely, it does seem weird for him to not include them in his arsenal. |

I think suppressing Kyuubi is an Uchiha thing. The Kyuubi himself was surprised that Sasuke was able to do it and said he was reminded of Madara. It wouldn't be the first time that it's been the case that you need Sharingan and the bloodline to fully utilise a technique. As for genjutsu, I don't think it's Kakashi's thing really. He used it against Zabuza because of the situation (and plot dictated that Kakashi had to show the Sharingan off on it's debut). We have enough Itachi running around genjutsuing everyone, let Kakashi use it to do cool stuff

Like MaitoGai said, I think it's becuase of his fighting style. Kakashi is very much a ninjutsu-focused fighter who also happens to be pretty damn proficient in both tai- and genjutsu. It's how he balances out with Gai so well. I think - and it's only speculation - that there needs to be a large amount of malevolence within the person to control the Kyuubi. Madara and Sasuke are both, in essence, paranoid, psychotic douchebags. Kakashi isn't. |

I like that malevolence theory and it certainly makes a lot of sense when taking into account what Kyuubi says to/about Sasuke when he sees him. |

I'm pretty sure most of the Sharingan's abilities are only unique to the Uchiha Clan. Since Kakashi isn't a uchiha his sharingan has developed into something of it's own |
