In everyday speak, which do you prefer to say? Say-en or Sai-yen or Saiya-jin? Tien or Tenshinhan? Vegeta or Bejiita? Trunks or Torankusu? Piccolo or Pikkoro? Special Beam Cannon or Makkankakasarappaposappo? Among others. Discuss. |

Depends who I'm talking to. Talking to someone intelligent who doesn't go crazy at you for using the Japanese terms/speaking outside what they're used to hearing in general then I use the Japanese terms for attacks. I Saiyajin because Saiyan is a literal translation (unlike special beam cannon and Tuffles for example....Tuffles should really be Tsfurans or something). Names I use Trunks, Piccolo and Krillin really. Wasn't aware of the Trunks difference. I'll use Muten Roshi, Tenshinhan and Garlic Gun with some people. Also say Kaio-ken instead of kayo-ken. English terms are fine too but I don't use them. Problem I have is when others have a problem with you using the Japanese terms, even when the English terms have a totally different meaning. |

Good luck with that, Schutzstaffel. I use Saiyan, Tien, Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo, Special Beam Cannon, etc. I really only use the Japanese terms online where I don't have to actually speak them. |

I use the English pronounciations when I'm speaking so people know what the heck I'm saying. Why would I try to sound Japanese when I'm not? lol. As far as terminology goes, I use the Japanese terms unless I slip up. |

1. Saiyan. But I say SSj in the shorter version. 2. Tien 3. Vegeta 4. Trunks 5. Piccolo 6. Special Beam Cannon I really don't know why I'd speak Japanese instead of using their literal English translations considering I am English... Although Tenshinhan is understandable because it's in the English Manga. And Makanasapopopopopo because SBC isn't actually the real English for that (I think...). And another thing ALWAYS "Kid ____" not "Chibi". Chibi isn't even a DBZ word, why would anyone throw in a random Japanese word like that in the middle of their sentence? I never understood that. |

I always use the Japanese terms for everything as I've never even seen over half of the series in the English dub and find all of the changed names/terms in it to be retarded. |

I don't get why some people go for the japanese pronunciation of names, when most of the time, the english pronunciation is fairly accurate - though I never did understand the change of tenshinhan to tien To answer the question - as others have mentioned already, it really depends on who I'm talking to - though I used to pronounce it as "say-en", I pronounce it as "sai-yen" these days. |

because alot of the names are just plays on the japanese pronunciation of them, knowing the actual words is educational. bihu teki? = beef steak the list goes on, the names arent a correct pronunciation, more like puns or play offs. Not accurate at all. gohan by itself? means rice. gohan desu yo= its dinner time, or time to eat rice. the other mispronunciations like shenron, when its xi long, thats not accurate either.
